There have recently been comments suggesting that some of the bearings are of Chinese make, and not to be trusted, has this been addressed?

The kit I ordered in October contained Chinese bearings. Stupidly, I installed them. The car went 50 miles then the timing belt lept of the cam gears and shredded itself. No one could give me a good explanation for the spontaneous self destruction my engine had gone through. After having the heads rebuilt (AGAIN) I put the OEM bearings and tensioner back on, and the car has now done 300 miles without incident. I STRONGLY suspect the Gates bearings opr tensioner were to blame. AVOID THESE KITS.

hi will this fit on a 2008 subaru impreza 2.0 R??

Gates only lists timing belt kits for this year make and model using the 2.5 single and dual cam engines.  Because they only catalog data for vehicles that were built to be sold in the USA, you may not find a suitable replacement offering for this engine combination.Bruce

Does this come with the spacer tool (appears to be a red piece on other sites) that fixes the clearance issues with manual trans Subaru/Saab models?
