The only phone case I will buy. Worth every penny.
This may get long...I used to be a complete Otter Box nut. Seriously I would get my new phone and before I walked out of the store it had the plain-jane black Otter Box Defender case on it.Those things are clunky, and honestly not all that durable; at some point the rubber shell cover gets all nasty and stretched out. Eventually the clamshell belt clip will break and did many times over the years that I used them. That left me with a HUGE, bulky case on the phone; don't get me wrong, I love my big Samsung Galaxy Note phones, but the cases were ridiculous. This is were my UAG story begins. It was the fall of 2014 and I had just gotten my Samsung Galaxy Note 4, as with all my other phones I had walked out the door with this massive Otter Box on it. Within a month the clamshell was destroyed, the rubber flaps over the ports had torn a bit and wouldn't stay shut and the screen protector was in shreds. Mind you, I'm not blatantly rough on my devices and take care of them, but I still use them, and that's what I get them for, to use!.While I am a Sprint customer, a very close friend of mine works at the local Verizon store and is the manager there. While visiting with her one day to get a new charging cable for the phone, she noticed my very decrepit looking Otter Box and commented that I may need to think about a different brand. Talk about good sales tactics here, because in that moment she was also stocking this new case brand that I had never heard of, Urban Armor Gear. What a strange name, but I saw these super cool looking, minimalist cases that honestly didn't look like they did a whole lot. I first laid eyes on the sweet bright Orange Pathfinder and said I had to have it instantly. Yep... I made a snap decision based on the look of the case, and without knowing anything about it.My friend was cashing me out and I saw the price tag scroll across the screen showing $40.56, at this point I kind of flipped out a little and wanted to know why it was "so expensive for this case that barely covered the phone". Before I could say anything though she had paid for it and told me Happy Birthday! I thanked her and went my merry way with this bright new Pathfinder case that I loved the look and feel of. Fast forward only a few hours and I'm on the second floor of the University and my phone slips out of my breast pocket as I lean over the railing, down goes my phone all the way to the concrete below... I was certain that my phone was smashed to bits inside the case and the screen at minimum would be shattered... Once I made it down and picked up the phone I was absolutely shocked the discover that not only was the phone not damaged in the least, but even my glass screen protector was intact! This got me into searching out the UAG company and finding out more about their products; low and behold I found the limited info, but that is all they need. The specifications are not extensive, just the bare bones details to tell you that your device is protected inside their products. I had that phone and case up until December of 2016 when I switched to my Galaxy S7. This time, I walked out the door with my shiny new S7 snuggly fitted into a brand new UAG Pathfinder case. The S7 and the case are still mated together and work just fine but I really wanted the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 because I missed my S-Pen, before walking up to the counter to purchase my new phone I had the UAG Plasma Crystal in hand ready to slip on the new phone. I'm a bit of a clean phone snob and so I do have a dBrand Skin on my phone, even inside of the UAG case, but my ultimate idea of how to change the look of my phone is with a UAG case. This brought me to the decision on going all the way up the ladder and getting myself the beautiful Monarch case in Metalic Red with top grain leather. If you run into me on the street, or travelling abroad, you can put a $100 down on a bet that I will have a UAG case on my phone as long as the company keeps making cases. I don't give brand loyalty to many companies, and the product has to be worthwhile. In my experience and opinion, UAG goes above and beyond to produce a very durable, sleek looking, and incredibly protective case that is unsurpassed by any other case at this price point and size. There are other "rugged looking" cases, and they are super fancy with all the metal hardware and bolts being them together, but I'm sticking behind UAG with their tough, easy to use and fantastic looking cases. I know my phone is protected and the case is going to outlast the time that I will be using the device.

Kept my phone alive through daily drops
Before buying this case for my new phone exactly 11 months ago, I did a lot of research. I was stuck deciding between the Plasma, Monarch and various Otterbox cases. I'd had Lifeproof cases on my old phones, but they didn't protect the phone very well, were super bulky, and I hates the screen protector. I was really scared of getting such a thin case without a screen protector for my phone at first, but I'm so glad I did. Now, let me just say - I drop my phone A LOT. My phone takes AT LEAST one cringeworthy fall DAILY, if not multiple. Thanks to this case, it hasn't suffered any damage since I got it, aside from a few light scratches from regular use. I'm seriously amazed that my phone hasn't cracked yet without a massive, bulky case on it.The case looks good and doesn't add much weight to the phone. The ridges on the back help keep it from sliding off surfaces - - I often rest my phone on my knee to look up tabs as I play ukulele or guitar, and it doesn't slide off my leg like it did before I got the case. The buttons are great and always responsive, and I LOVE the ridges on the small buttons that help me distinguish them from eachother. I used to click the Bixby button instead of the volume button a lot before I got this case, but the buttons make it easy to avoid that. Wireless charging works fine with the case, and it gives me full access to the charging, headphone and pen ports. Now, this case did fall apart in just under a year - - the rubber started detaching from the plastic on the side of the power button - - but considering just how much beating it took in its lifetime, that's a very reasonable length of time to me. If you don't drop your phone multiple times a day like I do, it may very well last longer.

The ONLY case for Note 8 from function to bulk to asthetics
There's 100s of cases for the Note 8. Here's the issue- some protect but look like crap and make an already large phone even bigger; some look amazing but protect like crap; some look amazing, protect....but won't wirelessly charge. And so on and so forth. Here's the thing with the UAG Monarch-- it's the ONLY case on the market that gives you protection of bulkier cases while adding as little mass to the phone as can be expected and still allows for wireless charging--- while looking amazing doing it.The main critiques of the Monarch seem to revolve around two core matters: inability to use screen protectors (especially of the tempered glass variety) and inability to wirelessly charge. I find that neither of those are issues for me. 1) you shouldn't be using tempered glass protectors on the Note 8 anyway, it kills the screen response - just utilize a film protector; and 2) I've had zero issues with wireless charging; now I did have one wireless charger that wouldn't charge unless you turned the phone sideways.....but the fact is that wireless charging is a combo of case, charger, plug and cord. If any one of those isn't what it needs to be, the wireless charging won't work. But trust me---- if you can't wirelessly charge with this case? It's not the cases fault trust me.With that out of the way? This case is simply amazing. It add minimal bulk to the phone but all buttons are easily utilized and all ports are easily accesses. With that in the time I've used it, I've dropped the phone twice uttlerly by accident. One time was when I was dusting the banister and the phone slid out the pocket on my hoodie, bounced through the slats and fell 6 feet to my tiled floor below. What amazed me is it did this with almost no sound- the phone bounced off the corners of the case and landed face down. I went down and picked it up......it was as if nothing had happened. Now, some will point to the price as the ultimate knock against this case. Fair enough. But here's the thing---- remember 5 years ago when the top price of phones was $500? Yeah, those days are gone. Phones like the Note 8 new are nearly $1000 and even now a year plus after release are a "steal" at $500. So even at that price, $50 is a 10% investment in protecting a device that for at least a couple years holds your life in it.....all for the price of dinner for 4 at Chilis? Seems a small price to pay. Add to that the fact that here on Amazon like new units are available for $37ish or less and brand new units can be found on a certain auction site for as little as $15? No-brainer.Simply put- UAG has created the perfect mixture of form and function that helps to protect one of the finest electronic devices ever made and even at the $50+ price point that's a small price to pay. Buy it and try it- if you don't agree, send it back and it costs you nothing. But my guess is, most of you if you do try it will end up keeping it. As you should.

Works well with my wireless chargers. Feels solid.
This review is for the "Plasma" style case.Of all the cases I have tried for my Galaxy Note 8, this is the only one that seems solid enough to stay on tightly, not slip out of my hands if I'm wearing gloves, and just might be springy enough in the corners to protect my phone if I drop it (I've only had it a day, I haven't experienced any drops yet).It doesn't interfere with wireless charging with my home qi charger or my car qi charger, it actually seems to interfere the least with wireless charging of any of the cases I tried for the Note 8.I had a similar UAG brand case for my Galaxy Note 3, which I dropped dozens of times, including on jagged seaside rocks and off of ladders, and it protected my Note 3 just fine, so the UAG brand has a good track record for me.The sides of the case do not wrap all the way around the side of the screen, which seem intentional to preserve the functionality of the side-swipe accessed apps inherent to the curved screen phone design. I'm not sure how well this design will protect the phone from side impacts, depending on the angle. I realize it is a difficult phone design to protect, but ideally I would have preferred a case that was higher than the screen all the way around, but with a little divet on the edge of the screen, which would have allowed side swiping while providing full impact coverage, but I have not found any cases that are designed that way.I mostly took off 1 star because the Plasma does not come in many colors, it doesn't come in colors that match the stock color options of the Note 8 phone, not does it even come in basic Black. To get a Black case I would have had to buy the Monarch case, which is almost $60(!), and the Monarch case had some reviews complaining that the metal side interfered with wireless charging. It's the only case I've tried that actually seems like it will protect my phone, I just wish it was offered in Black, and the Midnight Blue color offered in stock Samsung phones.

The Best
I don't write many reviews, but felt compelled to after this case saved my $1,000 phone from my very hard tile floor...twice now1st time, I was sitting on the ground and it kind of launched out of my hand landing mostly on the back of the case - a decent test from maybe 1-2 feet where it was more tossed than dropped, the phone (and case) were completely unscathed, but the screen did not land down.2nd time, today, was from a full standing pocket height, landing completely face down. I wanted to, but didn't even cringe because this case is so well made that I knew the screen was going to be okay when I picked it up (it just sounds 'solid' when it hits the ground), and so my phone survived perfectly.Very comfortable case, easy to hold (love the leather on the back!), side buttons, pen slot, and all ports works flawlessly, curved edges are completely protected while still not interfering with the view or ability to use the edges (the screen cannot touch no matter the position when on a flat surface), the form factor is relatively small for a significant amount of protection (its really not much/any bigger than S7/S8s with an Otterbox), and finally with all this the case also looks awesome, and is a very quality and solid constructions - so many compliments!

Beautiful and Badass
I have used UAG cases for many of my past phones, and had one of their Plasma cases on my Note 8. It worked great and looked good. But then I ordered a red and black UAG Monarch case for my wife's iPhone 7 Plus. When I saw it, I immediately orderd one for my Note 8.Pictures do not do this case justice. The red is a matte finish with a slight shiny sheen...It's hard to describe but it looks amazing. The leather inserts fit the design of the case and the rubber surround has hexagonal designs...the entire case is simply amazing. This case is slightly thicker and I can tell it weighs a bit more than the Plasma (which is very thin and light) but it feels great, with plenty of texture to grip and protection for my Note 8. Both my Note 8 and my wife's iPhone 7 Plus are very large but thin phones, so the added weight and size actually makes the large phones easier to manage. The edges are grippy in the hand, but don't grab on to fabric, so it's easy to get the phone or out of pockets.I cannot say enough about this case. UAG has done it again with another amazing case and I am glad I ordered the Monarch. If you want super thin and light, go with the UAG Plasma, but if you want your phone to look and feel like the hotness, then the Monarch is the way to go. I hope they release it in blue one day ...

whats not to like
As usual, this case is a great case. I love the citron color. I also have the ash to change it up a little here and there. I would also love to see a orange or red color..UAG does not advertise these to be screen protector friendly, I have seen where some work and some do not, not fair to bash on UAG for not working with screen protectors when they do not advertise they will. I had UAG plasma on my s8 plus and it survived a drop just fine with this case on, I feel it provides adequate protection and prefer this over the otterbox symmetry, I feel there is more gripping power on the UAG, and it is feather light, the symmetry is more smooth, little more slippery. I wish I tried UAG earlier then the s8 plus, I tried so many cases before trying the UAG on that phone, when the note 8 dropped, it was simple, go get a UAG.

Another awesome UAG case!
I love this case. This is the third UAG/Samsung combo I've had. This case is much less bulky, and I'm afraid that it doesn't protect as well as the older cases have. S3 and Note 4 both got 3 years of commercial use out of them and never had a crack or damage during a drop. Unbelievable protection, considering I'm a vehicle technician and I'm on the phone all day.The green (plasma) is accurate in the color of the pictures. I got a Orchid Gray Note 8 and it looks okay. I wish they offered the phone in white, it would look so much better with the translucent green. My only gripe of any of these UAG phone cases, is the edge at the top of the screen can irritate your ear if you're on the phone too long.I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Excelente marca, y funda.

Me gustó
