PERFECT PURCHASE!
LOVE this De'Longhi! I am shocked at all of these bad reviews!! Either these reviews are from competitors or there is a lot of user error. I purchased this machine several months ago and it has been a dream to use. It makes a perfect cappuccino as long as you take the time to learn how to make a perfect cappuccino! If you're just wanting a quick coffee, a press of a button is all it takes. This machine is easy to clean, and easy to fill with coffee and water. The frother works great too. I was previously spending more for pods with my Nespresso machine, and I'm happy to be using whole beans now. There is an obvious noise from coffee grinding but this is expected! I'm happy with the brew speed, which does change depending on your choice of brews. Overall I love this machine and it looks great on my coffee bar....gotta go make another cup!

BUYER BEWARE
We loved this coffee machine. But in less than 30 days, it stopped working. After conferring with tech support, they said that the machine would need to be replaced and the replacement would be on it's way in 3-4 days. It's now been about ten days, and the request for "replacement" is still waiting to be processed. No estimated date for replacement, and absolutely no updates from De'Longhi. It's disappointing when you pay this much $$$ for a coffee machine that has been owned less than a month. ****UPDATE**** Still no replacement coffee maker. Customer service at DeLonghi is a joke. We have been told several times that the replacement is on the way, but today was told that they want to repair the old machine instead of sending us a new one. I decided to just return it to Amazon - but it's been over 30 days, so Amazon will deduct approx $141 for "restocking fees". I did not buy the additional insurance, because this machine has a two year warranty. IF YOU PURCHASE THIS MACHINE, BUT THE INSURANCE OFFERED BY AMAZON in case you have the same problem that we have encountered.

Awesome, with some quirks
We purchased this machine to avoid purchasing either another Keurig or a Nespresso machine. It has not disappointed, and we in fact love it. Pros: - It is fairly simple to use - It eliminates the waste found with a Keurig or Nespresso. All you buy is whole beans for the grinder and ground for the bypass - The bypass opening allows us to make decaf versions of our drinks in the evening (I use Peet’s which is decaffeinated using the water process) - It makes an excellent espresso. I was able to dial in the grind pretty quickly and we have not touched it in 3 months. Because it makes an excellent espresso it also makes an excellent cafe Americano. - My wife likes frothy milk drinks. We got the version with the manual frother which I recommend. It is much easier to clean (and hot milk leaves a residue) and it is very easy to use compared to the versions with the automatic milk frother. - I love the sounds it makes. As an engineer I appreciate all the whirs and clicks and such. Cons: - Our machine leaks a little water internally such that the drip pan fills with water even when nothing visible has gone into it. The good news is that it is all in the drip pan and not on the counter - While it has a low water indicator, it is set too low and will start making a cup and then halt in the middle when it runs out of water. You either toss what you made or get a half of what you wanted. To resolve this I try and remember to look at the right side of the machine at the water level before I start (it is clear and easily visible) - Same issue with beans as water, it can run out of beans in the middle of a cycle, so I check - Some folks complain about the water it purges when turning it on & off, I did not find this annoying. We just keep an empty coffee cup under the spout when we turn it on/off. - I have not been able to dial in the ‘coffee’ option, it is a little too bitter for me. But this is not really much of an issue, the cafe Americano is excellent and I get more volume of coffee than the coffee setting. So while the machine is not perfect, it makes an awesome espresso, cappuccino, and cafe Americano - what we bought it for. It has proven simple to use and to clean. We love it.

Worth the investment, use quality beans
One of our great culinary joys every morning is a fresh cup of high-quality espresso. This Magnifica Evo brews amazing drinks from espresso, double shot (dopia), Americano (espresso with hot water to thin it out like drip coffee), a long where the machine grinds and pushes water through periodically for multiple, to their coffee setting which is a constant push of water through the puck, to even ice coffee. The bean grind and the amount (strength) are adjustable as are the volumes and temperature of water through programming. We actually dug out some cups from a wedding set that work perfectly. =The steam arm is perfect for a manual foam (which I prefer) for my plant-based (oat, almond, coconut) milk alternatives for lattes and cappuccino drinks. Recommendation: make sure you use goods quality (non-enhanced) beans. It makes a huge difference for very little cost. Read the user guide and experience all the adjustments available to make your perfect cup every day. I can easily justify the cost of the machine with the quality of the product and espresso. I like it better that going out for coffee drinks.

Makes pretty good espresso, good value for lower cost super auto
Well the first unit had to be returned it bricked during initial setup(water pump didn't work I think) Ordered another one which has been good so far. Its fairly easy to use and espresso quality is pretty good. For the price point I think its a pretty good unit, better tasting product then the Phillips. The unit isn't to huge, and looks ok, though it is all plastic, metal and touch screen would be nice but of course that would raise the price by a few hundred making not as great of value. Cleaning is pretty easy. I prefer the manual frother vs the built in dispenser I think it does a better job and less stuff to clean. They do skimp on including a filter you have to purchase separate. I dinged a star off rating because the first unit was DOA. If you don't want to spend money on something like a Jura this is a good entry into the superauto world.

How did I live without this?
Quality machine. It requires some attention every day. Fill the reservoir, empty the waste bin. Put beans in it. Perhaps the most annoying chore is to run the descaling process. But I think it leaves the factory with Italian settings. These assume high calcium in the water and require frequent descaling. My water supply is much softer, so I set the program appropriately. Read the manual! One more thing: I saw a review in which a consumer complained that the machine she received was ‘used’. Some grounds in the machine indicate that it was tested before it left the factory. She should be happy that there is quality control. Read the manual!

VERY FRUSTRATING
I ordered this machine on December 11th 2022. Up until a few days ago it worked just fine. Now it won't make lattes, espressos, or any coffee whatsoever. The problem started after I hit the descaling button. From that point forward the machine locked. I followed instructions in the manual in an effort to descale the machine even though I had not been alerted by the machine that this was necessary. The machine would not start the descaling process. I tried to reset the machine to factory standards again following instructions in the manual I received with the machine to the letter, but the machine would not do that. I went online to check obtain information I provided when I registered the machine within 14 days of the date I received it. After signing in there was no sign that my machine was ever registered even though I have an email confirming successful registration. While on the Delonghi site I checked to see if I have the right owners manual. The owners manual that came with My machine lists three different model numbers but not mine. My search indicated that the model that I own was no longer being serviced and there was no owners manual to be found. The model number on my Amazon invoice and on the bottom of my machine is ECAM49043SB. I spoke to two service representatives and neither could find my registration but acknowledged that I did register it after I sent them my purchase invoice and email from Deloghi confirming registration. Neither of the reps I spoke with could find my model or its owner manual on the Delonghi web site. I will be calling Delonghi back tomorrow and asking for a new machine and not a refurbished one. If they refuse I'll also be contacting Amazon. I owned this machine's predecessor and used it daily for 10 to 12 years before it died. That's why I decided to buy another one. I guess you can say they don't make them like they used to. Stay tuned. I'll let you know how Delonghi and/or Amazon respond to my warranty request.

Delicious 😋
I owned a De'Longhi Magnifica about 20 years ago, and it lasted a good 10 years. This newer model of Magnifica, (Evo) is nothing short of perfection. Ok, on to the functions....being German myself, I use a German brand of coffee beans, and since I prefer my coffee strong, I always use Espresso beans. The unit itself is a bit noisy, but thats to be expected, given that it has to grind the beans, heat and filter the water and extract all into a cup once all the grinding and mixing is complete. The coffee can't be more fresh than with freshly ground beans right then and there. I like the new features of selecting the type of drink you're making....as well as doubling up on the quantity by a simple press of the "X2" button. My old machine had none of that. You can select between many different types of beverages....Espresso, Coffee, Long, Americano or Over Ice. Steam for Cappuccino can be used for milk as well as frothing up your coffee, for those whom prefer a more crema coffee. Overall, I am VERY pleased with this unit, and it's worth every penny. The water capacity is also great, and I suggest, to those new to this unit, to clean it daily, if used daily. This prevents any water slime, coffee ground disk rot, and keeps the unit running like a champ. You can also use already ground coffee, if you prefer, but as a matter of preference, I use whole beans, for added freshness. I posted images of the ground coffee beans disks ejected into container within machine after brewing is complete, to share with you what I do with those disc's after I clean the tray holding these disks. In winter, I collect them in a zip lock bag, and place them into the freezer, to use in spring and summer for my plants, bushes and trees. Those work wonders for your plants. I have nothing negative to say about this unit, it's SUPERB !!

Best coffee machine !
We got this machine about a year ago. And it is still making amazing coffee multiple times a day and has more than paid for itself ! It was easy to set up and is extremely easy to use. We originally got it as I wanted a machine that the grinder and everything was contained in one unit to cut down on coffee ground mess and also to have more space on our counter with less appliances. It has done this perfectly making our coffee area cleaner and more manageable on top of making amazing coffee ! No more grounds all over or coffee pods to wash and clean out, everything is done by the machine and all that you need to do is empty the ground receptacle when it tells you. Even the descaling and cleaning is SO easy compared to other machines we’ve owned. I recommend this to anyone and am even asked by coworkers to bring them coffee sometimes in the morning lol well worth the price tag for the quality coffee it makes as well as the mess it drastically cuts down on your countertops.

Great coffee, a little loud
Makes excellent coffee from grounds or beans. Steamer works well to froth milk, but cannot operate while coffee is being brewed, because there is only one heating element. A little loud though.
