It keeps temp at what you select. Other brands have a 1 to 3 deg range which is too much. I have bought 3, each at a different property, and all work perfectly. I would buy again if I need another thermostat **Q: Will this thermostat work if you only have central electric heat and a central AC as in a mobile home.** A: Not sure about working on a mobile home ac. I bought it to use on my York heat pump unit.
