Smith Optics Podium TT MIPS Road Cycling Helmet

I cracked the lens on my Bell Javelin helmet and since I love checking out new gear, I decided to get a new helmet rather than replace the lens.I wanted one that was aero, relatively lightweight, disappeared on my head, and most importantly - provided good cooling!!!! I'm a heavy sweater, and need something that will allow reasonable breathing.The Giro Aerohead seemed to be at top of everyone's list so I tried that one first. However, I found it to be obnoxiously hot and didn't breathe at all. I also found the visor cutout for the nose to not fit my face very well. After 20 miles in 80º weather, I had pools of sweat running down the visor lens, which was annoying. It was also bulky and heavy and I couldn't imagine wearing it for a 70.3, let alone a 140.6.A continued search turned up the Smith Podium. I didn't even realize they made bike helmets. Reviews were scarce, but what I did find seemed to be positive so I bit the bullet.It arrived and I tried it on. It felt super lightweight, especially compared to the Aerohead. It was also VERY comfortable and easy to adjust. Unfortunately it arrived right before a 70.3 race, so I made the cardinal mistake of using new equipment for the first time in a race. The gamble paid off.It was a humid 56 miles, and the helmet kept me adequately cooled. Sweat never managed to drip down the visor. Staying aero for the entire ride except for 90º turns and one 0.5 mile steep climb was also a cinch. My neck/shoulders never got fatigued from the helmet. It was really nicely balanced on my head. How aero is it? Who knows. That's so personal, that unless you have a wind tunnel, you don't really know. But it looks aero and has similar features as other helmets that do consistently test well. The lens was also crystal clear. I know Smith is known for great lenses/optics, and this is no exception.I also love that it comes with its own travel case and an extra lens that's clear. MIPS technology is also an added bonus.Overall this helmet is amazing and I couldn't be happier. Highly recommended alternative to the Aerohead and other aero helmets.

I really like this helmet for durability, quality of construction, and ease of use. The clarity on the eye shield is great. I have raced a TT and two tris in it and It feels extremely aero. I have an enormous head (7 5/8 hat size) and it fits. Not all aero bike helmets do.

Helmet was very light weight and had a great look. I have a large head and the fit around my face was too tight. I ended up having to return the helmet but really wish had fit me more comfortably

Wonderful helmet. I like it because my forehead swears and messes up any glasses I wear.. problem solved!

Perfect for Time Trials.

The helmet fits *around*, but was short. The covers ended up *in* my ears and not *over* my ears. Wish it fit....seems like a nice helmet.

Great helmet...looked at several reviews wasnt 100% until it came, its light fits my head very well excellent vision not hot so far very happy...got the giro vanquish not the best comparison but its loads better in my opinion. The wind squel isn't an issue not that noticeable.
