The angle is not adjustable. The lock is not meant to fit tightly to the fallboard cover but rather prevent the opening of it.

Q: Do I need to drill holes in my piano to use this?

Yes, You will need to drill a hole on the bottom, to hold a piece for the clamp to slide into.
