How many amps does it draw?

This unit uses 4 amps at most or 46 to 50 watts at 12vdc, but, once it gets to temp it shuts off. That's the "logic" of the the product. Thermal temp sensor saves you some energy if you are using a solar generator or limited power source.

How hot does this device get?? Is it safe for plastic containers? Tupperware etc...??

It gets hot but does not melt plastic. I have found that the thin plastic containers do better as far as a shorter heat up time, about an hour for a 4x8x2 container with cold leftovers. And mine sit on ice pacs til it’s time for me to heat it up. The glass containers take longer to heat up. One f my co-workers used to heat up frozen TV dinners in it.

At 12v, how many amps does it draw? Will it drain my battery if I let it run with my engine turned off?

It doesn't draw 1 amp, it draws about 4 amps. A 40aH battery (40ah is a 'normal car battery) in good condition should be able to heat it for a few hours. 4 amps for 10 hours is 40 amp-hours. So you "should" be able to heat it for 1 hour with the engine off, and have ~90% battery remaining to start the car. And it is thermostatically controlled thus it uses much less power once it gets up to temperature. Unless it's really cold outside - then it will use more power, but you c could put it under blankets.
