I am wondering how many peasants were interviewed and from which rural area?** A: I believe they meant to say "has good reputation from pheasants in rural area." The pheasants don't even have to sit on the eggs anymore! Genius! **Q: The instructions say to “suffumigate with potassium permanganate and formalin”.....Has anyone actually done this? Anyone have success w/out doing this** A: I didn’t do anything but soap and water and had a 50 % hatch rate on quail eggs. Right out of the box and had eggs in it within the hour. **Q: Do you need to add water frequently to keep the humidity at correct levels? Won’t it mess up the humidity each time you lift the lid to add more?** A: Humidity during incubation is mostly about a good average, so for days 1-18 opening it frequently is not a big deal. You want the egg to evaporate the correct amount of water off so the aircell of the egg grows at the correct rate (you can google charts that show the proper growth rate). Higher humidity will make the air cell grow slower, lower humidity will make the air cell grow faster. After day 18 however (for chicken eggs), you want to get the humidity very high, and keep it there, to air in the hatching process. The reservoir on this incubator is big, I did not come even close to running out of water after I filled it on day 18. **Q: Will goose eggs fit?** A: Yes, perhaps 6 of them would fit in the turning tray. If you wanted to open it and turn manually, you could fit more. Not much more to say. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Overall Good buy for the price, but be preapred to put some work into it. *by D***. on February 17, 2020* This was my first time hatching chicks and I had Zero experience at it. My only education regarding the matter was other reviews of this model incubator and LOTS of you tube videos. This incubator was reasonably priced compared to other models. I had difficulty regulating the temperature at first, then I followed someone elses suggestion and added towels around the outside and that seemed to do the trick. The temperature on the machine was off and bit and I had to adjust it down (based on my thermometer I put inside). The humidity is difficult to keep consistent and seems highly dependent on ambient temp. I am in Tennessee and hatched in Feb, so my heat was running a lot in the house. My house ran about 35-40% humidity so keeping the incubator at 55% mean adding water every other day. Took some trial and error to figure out how much to add each time but it was less than the manufacturer recommendations. This model doe not monitor humidity so to do so, you need a hygrometer inside the machine (purchased separately). I was only able to fit 8 chicken eggs in the machine. I could have squeezed nine in, maybe but some of my eggs were large. The turned worked great, no problems there. I did have to use a long thin piece of aquarium tubing and dropper to add water through the vent hole after day 18 as there is no way to add water without lifting the lid otherwise. I set 8 eggs and ALL 8 eggs hatched, so hatch rate was 100%, All in all, it's a great machine if you only plan to hatch once or twice and don't want to spend a lot on a machine.
