You need to find the model number on the fan. Take the blades off the fan and get a ladder so you can inspect it closely looking for the model number. You have to locate the sensor on the fan that receives the signal. **Q: Can you confirm that this has an "orange" light control button and does replace chq8bt7096t as stated above?** A: the light button is yellow. it does work for chq8bt7096t. make sure you need the mode with the REVERSE key, or the FAN TIMER key.
