Was a little skeptical on shelling out a premium for first party accessories, but I think for this item in particular, it was worth every penny. Sturdy build quality, the finish on the metal bits are smooth and gorgeous, plus the soft-touch texture on the tripod legs/grip gives my hand a solid grasp on the unit as a whole. Very compact, so it can fit in a backpack pocket or even your pants pocket if you have the room. Telescopes just enough for basic shots (don't think you can get crazy reach with this thing), so that's all I can really ask for. Very satisfied with my purchase!

Before I say anything else I want to disclose that at the time of this review I am a sponsored GoPro Gold Athlete BUT I purchased this tripod outside of my sponsorship program at full price here on Amazon.Overall, this is a great little tripod but as some others have stated I was a bit surprised about the somewhat "plasticky" feel of the item. That being said, I USE my GoPro products heavily and in some quite spicy conditions and this tripod has worked beautifully. With no leg adjustments it can be a bit unstable especially when fully extended but that is to be expected really. It works great for its intended uses (as a handle/impromptu tripod), literally slips in my pocket, and the quality has held up over the few months I've used the tripod. I do wish the handle was rubberized however as it would make gripping the handle much more secure. The only reason I'm not giving this five stars is because again, as others have said, it just doesn't have that robust GoPro feel I've come to expect. Still, I think you'll be satisfied with the performance.

Very easy to use best tripod for the go pro

I didn't know I needed this smaller size but it's a wonderful surprise.I bought this as a back up but found that I'm using it more than the full extension device.The design feels really good in hand, the extension is perfect for hand held filming, the compact nature is ideal for storing in pocket. Took this on a hike and was able to easily stash this in my pocket when I needed to use my hands for the steep rocky climbs, pulling it out in a flash to get the footage quickly.So glad I bought this and recommend it. Good price too

I have the large, medium and now this one. This one will be perfect for long backpacking trips where size and weight matters. I plan on using this for videoing the night sky when backpacking on long trips.
