One of my favorite parts of this book is that the author also ...
In his new book, Chinese Holistic Medicine in Your Daily Life, Steven Cardoza, M.S, L.Ac. provides the reader with a very in-depth overview of the medical science of Chinese Medicine, giving detailed examples of all the branches of Chinese Medicinefrom Acupuncture and Herbs to Diet and Lifestyle. He provides helpful examplesof Acupressure, as well as Qigong and Taiji. He also includes detailed charts on thetheory of Chinese Medicine, explaining the concepts of Yin and Yang, as well asdetailed explanation of the meridians and vessels of the body, even breaking downthe different organs and their pairs. He gives advanced Chinese knowledge of howthe meridians are paired, as well as detailed charts on point location and anatomical drawings to locate the meridians and points on the body. The author gives Qi Gong exercises for each major organ and meridian pair, as well as discussionof Chinese Herbal Formulas for the main organs. One of my favorite parts of this bookis that the author also discusses dozens of different illnesses and the Chinese MedicalTreatment for them, including Qi Gong exercises, Acupoints, the Chinese patentremedies, beneficial foods, and nutritional remedies for each condition. All in all, Iwould have to say Steven Cardoza did an exemplary job of delving into the fieldof Chinese Medicine, its theory and practice, while integrating the Westernperspective, and making this timeless system of Chinese Medicine with all its vast and complex branches understandable and accessible to anyone interested in owning this book.

Comprehensive and well organized
This book packs a lot of information, from many sources, and yet it is clear and accessible. It is well organized: it starts with an overview chapter, followed by two main parts. The first one explores key concepts in Chinese medicine such as Qi, the meridians, yin and yang, an more. The second part explains how to diagnose and self treat various problems, using acupressure, Chinese herbs, diet, and Qigong. The last chapter here is particularly useful, as it is organized by common conditions with prescriptions for treating them.Steven Cardoza understands Chinese medicine deeply and presents it in a clear and convincing way. This book is accessible enough to read through, but is also great as a reference book, or to address particular problems.

An astounding and very integrative manual to natural healing!
Steven Cardoza compiles extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of each branch of Chinese medicine and indicates how to properly integrate them to achieve synergistic benefits. This is phenomenal, since there are many manuals dedicated to each branch independently, but in this book all are reviewed from a cohesive whole approach. And this is definitely the great thing about this book!In the first part, he very intelligently provides us with the foundations for making the shift from western to eastern cultural paradigm, with the aim of facilitating more productive learning. The holistic approach to preserving health considers emotional balance, mental and spiritual status, environmental factors, the lifestyle, and on the other hand the physiological interconnections of organs and their imbalances, the patterns of disharmony that can cause illness. The second part develops the practice of everything learned to apply it in a holistic self-care for better health. There are indications for each branch, such as lifestyle and diet, acupressure for self-care, herbal tonics, high-level Qigong practices for each organ that the author learned from Master Hong Liu. This last point seems to me is golden.Towards the end of this part, there is a useful compendium of some diseases ordered alphabetically and the treatment to recover health faster by combining the branches in a unified way.My gratitude to the Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to review the book

A great book everyone who wants to be healthy and strong
Reading this book has given me deeper appreciation on how the inner body including the organs and meridians work together. This book illustrates in practical detail the meridians in such a way that it is easy to understand. It is special because this is the only book of its kind that addresses the aspects of organs, meridians, traditional medicine and energy (chi/qi) in one book. Towards the end of the book, if there is any set of exercises to get you started on your health & wellness journey – this is it. With health awareness and practice, I have benefited tremendously with my day to day activities, especially well for my technical work demand plus looking at computer screen all day. I no longer experience dark ring around my eyes, not even after a long day, and my level of energy to go along with concentration at work. This has allowed me to be effective while staying healthy.
