A fantastic product to have had for Christmas and would be ideal for family gatherings or quiet nights in. A tidy compact game with easy to follow rules. Best value for money on the market. A sturdy box that contains everything needed to play.

The great thing about games like these are that they are compact and portable and there’s not bags and bags of tokens and meeples and dice etc.If you like the TV show, then you already know what the premise of the game is and the translation of it into a card game has been quite successfully done.Everyone can play at once, and you could play with just two people though it’s much more fun with more people. You reveal a card to everyone playing and then as soon as you think you know the answer you slam your hand down on the ‘buzzer card’ to claim your chance to give your guess.The person guessing then turns the card over to check if they were right and if they were, they score the points. If they weren’t correct, then they replace the card for the remaining players to take a turn at guessing it.If no one guesses a card correctly, it is discarded and a new card selected.It is suggested that you play six rounds in this way before introducing the Bonus Game.In this round, you scan the QR code on the bonus card and it will bring up a picture just like on the TV show with six ‘reveal’ tiles.To have a go at removing a tile you need to get a basic catchphrase card correct first and then choose a tile to remove. These are fiendishly tricky to guess from the first tile and the ‘host’ for this part of the game (the one with the lowest score) can check the answer in order to respond to the guess.If you’re playing with quite a few players then they can all earn chances at removing a tile and taking a guess, but for the entirety of that Bonus game, the ‘host’ is unable to try a guess because they will already have seen the answer.With just two players, when we had a go, we modified this part so that while one was the host, the other kept removing tiles and guessing but with a reduction in the points you would win after each wrong guess.If you are playing without internet access and can’t scan the QR code, then there is an alternative option of sliding a card into a sleeve with a cover card on top, and then gradually sliding the cover card out to reveal a slice of the picture at a time .All in all, I’d say it was quite a good game, we liked the bonus animated bit a lot, love the portability and simplicity of it, the only downside being that like a lot of this type of game, once you’ve played all the cards once, you can’t really play them again.At least not with the same group of people.Hope you found my review helpful and have fun playing !

Just like to show it has images for each player to guess the catchphrase. Box ideal for travelling and journeys. Lots of fun. Cards of good quality so ideal for family games.

Simple game loosely based on the tv show.Problem is once you have gone through the cards. Its too easy on the second run through.So better to bring out every so often so not to remember all the answers

Ginger Fox have released a series of card-based versions of popular quiz games including 'Popmaster' and 'Catchphrase'. They aim to distil these classic games into something akin to a pack of cards. Can they achieve this? Not really, but they are still able to make a fun experience that works particularly well on holiday or in the car.Neither game follows the exact rules of the quizzes they are based on; Catchphrase in particular needs a TV or screen to capture the full ambience, but even the Pop Master scoring is different. Both take the essence of the games; music questions or images that you must determine a catchphrase from. If someone knows the game they are based on they will be onboard in seconds and ready to go. It can be trickier to explain to a child, especially if they are playing Catchphrase.The packs themselves are well made, sturdy and fit nicely into a go away bag. This is the type of thing you take on a caravan holiday with you as you can play the games on a rainy day or on the journey.
