is this a moist heat?

Yes it is. The flax seeds contains moisture especially when new. It will still be moist but not that much after repeated use. If you like moist heat, you may spray water before microwaving. Can you wash it if something spills on it or someone with a cold uses it?

It is filled with grains. If you soak it in water, the seeds may become sticky. You can try to do a quick wash and fast drying so the inside doesn't stick. It will be a risk to take if it didn't turn out right. Or if you can sew, cut it open, wash it, fill it with what you like and sew it back close. Try to match our quality won't be easy.
