I definitely was able to pick up speed quicker having the double sided paddle and while the paddle was slightly heavier than I thought it would be it floats well in the water and does not sink which was an initial concern I had. It has several attachments in case I want to extend the paddle or if I want to use as a single sided paddle. It was above and beyond what my expectations were! Review: Mine did not float at all and showed up damaged - Paddle showed up damaged. Metal was bent pretty bad where pieces fit together. Had to rework the shape with pliers so 2 of the pieces fit together. Paddle worked great as a Kayak and SUP paddle. Most unfortunately I dropped my paddle for 2 or 3 seconds and it immediately sank. Their claim is that it can float for 24 hours mine didn't float for one second. Had people around me they watched it sink, every other paddle I have floats. My wife was using hers and the end with the latch came loose and popped off while she was using it. It sank straight to the bottom of the river. We were fortunately able to recover it, but if she had been just 20ft over from where she was, it would have been gone forever. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the pieces with the paddle ends to float, or at least stand upright in the water so they can be found and retrieved. The hook and strap that's included with this doesn't make sense with how it attaches, and there's no instruction about how it should go on. The paddle has been fine otherwise. I do like the durability and solid feeling of it.
