When testing fiber, a standard flashlight usually doesn't have enough intensity to do the job. I'm happy to report this unit users a laser diode to generate the light, so intensity isn't a problem. I'm not a fiber tech, so I rarely have need to test fiber circuits.As chance would have it, fiber internet became available in my neighborhood within two weeks of ordering this, so I had a chance to field test it. I assisted with the install by handling all cabling under the house, so I fired this up once I finished that run and the installer allowed me to 'test' the run from the road to the new wall jack. The light was very bright, and noticably reduced when the tech snapped the fiber before dressing the end to terminate.In short, this light does the job well, appearing to be of equal performance to the tech's 'professional' fiber equipment.

Comes in handy with basic fiber troubleshooting. It meets my expectations and has been very helpful.

Useful tool for simple visual testing of fiber, the adapter is a little strange and this is more for locating rather than troubleshooting.

I used this to locate a fiber jack. If you change it to flash, it is so bright I can find the light blinking out of the cracks of the jack even if it has black plugs. Sometimes fiber isn't terminated with the proper labeled jacks. Many times we need to test one jack then the next multiple times to locate the correct one. This will work great on project for connecting network switches and locating the fiber connections. I'll keep this in my bag. The only thing I wish is that there as a place to store the LC adapter because I would hate to lose it.
