The riding boot gets a little daring in the Vera from FRYE. The buttery leather upper has a pair of polished buckles for that equestrian flavor. A thick outsole and generous block heel put a little extra confidence in your step while the luxe leather lining delivers exquisite comfort. Let your leggy style out to play in this stunner. The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

My favorite boots!!!
Love these boots. I've wanted a pair of Frye boots and they usually run small in the calf area which is always an issue for me. So after reading reviews I decided to give these a try. Like the other reviewers said they do run large so rather than buying my usual 8 I decided to get a 71/2 and I'm so glad I did. I was concerned about the calf because I'm 15 inches at my thickest section and these stated that the opening was 15 inches. Surprisingly I was able to pull this over my calf with thin socks on and after wearing them with leggings and socks I can wear them over skinny jeans and socks. They do stretch out a bit. So glad I gave these a chance. They are beautiful and so comfortable. And they are easier to get on and off than I thought they would be. Highly recommended!!!

Finally found one that fit!
The Frye Vera boots are truly a beautiful boot. This was the keeper for me after trying way too many Vera slouch boots. I have an athletic calf and these in brown fit nicely. Just these. I really wanted these in black too but the sizing was all over the place in the same style. Other commenters noted they were a bit short. I am 5'2" and they are tall enough for me.As a buyer, I use product reviews as a tool When deciding what to buy and try to leave useful reviews for products I really like. These deliver!
I consider myself to have pretty average calves at 15", but it is so hard to find boots that fit! These really truly do fit and with room to spare. They felt a bit narrow in the toe box for me, but I have short and wide flippers, probably not average, so I had a cobbler stretch the toe box. Worth the money for sure! Very pleased so far! At 5'3", they fit a bit higher than I hoped for, relative to the bottom of my knee/top of my calf, but may slouch lower as they break in, as other reviewers experienced. Either way, I still love them. Easy fit under jeans and I could probably fit skinny jeans inside, definitely leggings easily. I ordered a half size larger than usual, thinking I would need it for the calf, but really don't, but glad I did for my wide feet. Plenty of room for thick socks or insteps as needed. Can't go wrong with Frye.

Favorite Pair of Boots EVER!
I've never owned a pair of boots I love more than these - they are the perfect pair of boots in my opinion. The Cognac color is rich and beautiful and the leather quality is so incredible you can smell it while wearing them throughout the day. They run slightly large, but I bought my normal size, 7.5 and am glad I didn't buy a 1/2 size up because they are so comfortable and I like to occasionally wear think socks. The boots don't have a zipper, but they slide on so easily, so effort at all. I would recommend purchasing the Frye leather conditioning cream in neutral because these boots will show small scratches, but can be buffed out very easily with that product. I wish I could own these boots in every color. MUST HAVE!

More gray than black
I love Frye boots, and the Vera style accommodates the slightly wide ball of my foot. I was disappointed in the color in these. I have this boot in Maple, and they fit well and are gorgeous. I wanted a tall basic black boot. This black is more shiny gray than a black. The color was a show stopper, I didn't even try them on as I wanted and ordered black bootsAs a buyer, I use product reviews as a tool When deciding what to buy and try to leave useful reviews for products I really like. 2 Star rating is for seller not the boots
The boots fit me perfectly. I have tried on and returned so many boots recently that I almost gave up. So glad I found the Vera Slouch Knee-High in maple. The heel height is perfect for my 5'3" frame. The shaft and circumference complimented my legs beautifully. The 3 star review is for the seller for a couple of reasons. 1) The boots came in a basic brown box (not Frye's), with no cardboard shaft inserts, just wadded up tissue paper sloppily placed in the boots. 2) One boot has a large gash across the sole where the Frye logo is placed and a gash on the side rubber part of the sole. Bottom line, the seller sold me a damaged pair of boots. I'm offended.

4.5 Star Rating
I love these boots. Love them!!! They are made in Mexico so they have that real leather smell and that buttery soft leather feel yet it's thick and durable. I LOVE THEM....BUT -They have to go back. I have wide calfs and because of that these boots just didn't fit right on me. I wish they were just a little bit wider and I could have made them work.If you have a normal size calf these babies should work for you. I suggest you purchase your normal size. I purchased the size 10 and 9.5 as I wasn't sure of the fit. I didn't even bother trying on the size 10 because the 9.5 fit perfectly.

I want to buy ALL THE FRYE BOOTS!
I've never owned nice boots before, so I was a little nervous to spend a lot of money on these. Luckily, my size was on sale and I got them for about 60% off the regular price, and now that I've had them for a few weeks, I would definitely say they are worth paying the original listed price. The cognac color is beautiful and rich, the leather is soft yet feels sturdy, and they fit perfectly. I am a size 8.5 in most shoes, but the other reviews said to order a half size down for this boot, and I found the 8 to fit me perfectly. The calves are a bit adjustable, but they seemed to fit me just right out of the box, with a little room to tuck in jeans. I've just worn them with some light wool socks, but there's room to wear with some regular cotton athletic socks or slightly heavier wool socks as well.I wore them for a couple weeks with some bandaids on my pinky toes to prevent blisters, but overall the break-in process was rather painless. The toe box doesn't feel narrow, I just have weird pinkie toes, so I wouldn't say everyone would have this issue. The boots are fine now and I don't need the bandaids anymore. I wear these while standing all day and walking up and down three flights of stairs 8-10 times per day, they're very comfortable and surprisingly easy to walk in, considering I've never worn any sort of heel in my life.Definitely glad I purchased these!
