My Dog Is Eating On His Own Again!!!
This is a long review, however, I hope this review will help another pet owner. Our 11-year-old rescued Boston Terrier all of the sudden stopped eating, had to be hand fed. We thought it was just part of aging. He then started tremoring and his teeth were chattering. We took him to the vet a few times to get checked out, vet ran his blood work and gave him a clean bill of health. His condition got worse, started pacing, panting, digging and even soiled his bed. At this time, we thought he may have Canine Cognitive Disorder (CCD) which is similar to Alzheimer in humans and this was Sundowning. We had another dog with CCD in about 10 years ago, and the condition only gets worse over time to the point we were existing on only 1-2 hours of sleep every night. We had considered euthanasia because we knew there was no treatment for CCD and we were only prolonging the inevitable. Before making that final decision, we decided to take our do to a university in our city that had a Veterinarian school for a second opinion. Again, all results came and told us he was in great health, except his teeth. They told us he had several fractured teeth, so highly recommended a dental cleaning and extraction of bad teeth. However, they had a waiting list so couldn't get us in until sometime in the Spring. Not sure why they had such a long waiting list because their prices are similar to what typical vets charge.Armed with this info, we went back to our vet and got a dental appointment same week. The vet ended up pulling one tooth that had caused him such severe pain that even under anesthesia, his teeth would chatter when the vet touched that tooth. She said she's never seen anything like it, it must have been so painful for him. Hindsight being 20/20, this all started to make sense. After his tooth was extracted, he did eat a bit better. However, we noticed that he was still refusing to eat from his food bowl...but he would eat off the floor. So did a bit of research online, found out that he could be associating his food bowl with dental pain. This is when I started to look for a washable silicone mat with a lip to keep food on the mat. Low and behold...it worked! We now place his food directly on the mat and he eats right off from there! As a matter of fact, we noticed our other dogs preferred to eat off the silicone mat as well. Our two seniors eat off the same mat and the other one eat from her own because she tends to overeat and monopolize the food. LOL!I think eating off the mat is also something very different for them, they're just like kids after all, and seems more fun for them to do. We're thrilled, these silicone mats are a lifesaver!!!

Works Perfectly!
I have a lab that for some reason just cannot drink water without it spewing out the sides of her mouth and getting absolutely everywhere. No idea why she can’t just drink it like a normal dog, but she’s perfect in every other way so I guess I’ll take some water spills. Haha.Every day I found myself mopping up the floors because she would get it everywhere, step in the puddle, and then track it to other places. This mat has been amazing. I ordered it because it had the elevated edge to hold the water in. It’s perfect for that. It’s also large enough to catch most of her splashes. I have had to clean up after her SO much less, and cleaning the mat is a breeze because I can just lift it up and empty it in the sink.Very happy with this purchase!

Love this mat
Love this mat. Glad I measured how big my dog bowls were before ordering or else I would have ended up with a too small mat from someone else. This mat is nice and big and the green color matches my kitchen perfectly. The dog likes it too. When I remove the bowls she just sits on the mat lol

Love this!
My cat is a bit strange, I’ll start there. Who’s cat isn’t? But her quirks are mainly in how she eats. She’s free fed so she usually just takes a couple bites of dry food multiple times throughout the day, but she likes pulling the pieces out one at a time dropping them in front of the dish and then eating them off the floor. This obviously has always created a mess of crumbs, but those were easy enough to clean up so we never bothered with a mat. She does it with her nightly wet food too, which is a lower bowl, so that’s not the problem. She just likes eating off the floor for whatever reason.Recently I kept noticing that her water dish would be empty within a few hours of me filling it. So I decided to watch her one day after filling her bowl. We were keeping it on a towel at the time because she’s also a messy drinker. Well she thought it would be fun I guess to yank the towel around and slosh all the water out. I could not describe to you exactly how she did it, but she managed to do it. So we figured it was time for a new game plan. She has not been able to tip her water bowl once with this mat, though she did try a couple times initially. She’s still dunks her paws in the water and splashes around but the mat actually catches the splatters so we don’t have to clean up every time she gets a drink of water. Her food is also contained within the mat. I was sure that she would drag her food pieces off the mat and onto the floor because of the weird silicone texture but she apparently doesn’t mind it. We still have to clean the mat but wow, this thing contains all the mess like you would not believe. Such easy clean up too, often you can just run it under water over the garbage disposal and there goes the mess! Highly recommend if you have a messy eater/drinker like I do. Definitely worth the money.

Very happy, excellent quality, super durable
These are very well made and exactly what I was looking for. They are large enough for a large water bowl leaving plenty of room on the mat to catch any drips. I am particularly happy with how tall the lip on the outer edge is. There is no way, even if the bowl does get knocked or shoved, that the water will overflow. The back has little nubs on it that not only give grip, but also allows for airflow underneath. I got the green and the color is a nice pale green, exactly as pictured. As for the material that the mats are made of, it is a nice thick yet flexible silicone. Because of this I believe that it will last far longer than any mat that I have purchased previously. it definitely should not crack or tear! I bought one for the hardwood floor in the kitchen, another for the carpeted area in the bedroom and a spare. The mat lays wonderfully on both surfaces. I am so pleased!

A must buy
Went for this one as it's a bit bigger and it's perfect! The material is really sturdy, the edges are nice and high so there's no spilliage and you can fit both water and feeding bowels. Highly recommend
