Yes it is not cheap. Yes there are other magnetic clips that cost significantly less. But there is a reason for that, they cost less because they don't work as well.This is the first and only magnetic chalk holder i've used that has a very strong magnet. So strong that if you hover it over the chalk it will literally pull it off a table from 3" away. So strong that you should not put it anywhere near an electronic device.Just spend the extra money now and save yourself a lot of headache later.

Would like to see a better material used for the chalk surround. Other than that, nicely made. A bit pricey, but the cheaper one’s don’t work well.

I am always getting blue on me from the chalk so keep the little rubber lid to put on it. Other than that love it get predator chalk it works so good!

I bought this Kumai chalk holder with the expectation of excellence... wrong. The rubber sleeve is so flimsy that if you don't pull the magnetic chalk holder off the base 'just right,' the octagon metal insert and magnet will pull away from the flimsy rubber sleeve chalk holder and stay on the base. Leaving you with no way of attaching the chalk holder back to the base -- unless you take the whole thing apart. I did this several times. I was tempted to send this thing back, but I modified it, using another (more robust) octagon holder and modified it to hold the metal insert and magnet. Needless to say, my version works flawlessly.
