The story of a young man and his experiences as he grows up in Israel is a cross between IB Singer and Amos Oz. Full of magic, pain, the wonder of a child, the redeeming of lost love, land and history. The descriptions are so fresh you can smell, taste and feel them. You will want to devour this book.

I have found Meir Shalev`s books so descriptive and eloquently written. His passion to communicate the the lives and surroundings, feelings, sounds, smells, way of life of his characters of both humans and animals, brings me right into the settings. I experience being there in The Land and getting hold of, understanding some of the thought processes the characters have and the way they have walked in order for them to develop this way of thinking. Enjoy another remarkable book by Meir Shalev!
