I love Jazz
Cute book. Beautiful illustrations. Banned from some places- that’s ridiculous. Buy it and help all children understand that everyone is special!

Love this book!
I bought this book for my daughter who is currently 5yrs old and she loves it! I want my daughter to grow up being diverse in so many ways and this book is cute! We watch “I am Jazz” so my daughter likes to see the book character be a real live person on tv.

Wonderfully told real life story for other confused young children to not feel like a freak or all alone.

A brave and smart young transgender girl
What a remarkably brave story in I Am Jazz by Jessica Herthel and Jazz Jennings, and illustrated by Shelagh McNicholas. Jazz was, as she says, "I have a girl brain but a boy body. This is called transgender. I was born this way!" She seemed to know who she was since she was little, correcting people if they called her a boy. Unfortunately, her parents only let her wear dresses around the house, but had to be a "boy" in public. Eventually, her parents finally understood her, and let her be herself. She became Jazz. This is an amazing story of someone who knew who she was, even if her body didn't. I applaud this child, and am totally shocked at how this could be on a banned book list. If more people read this story, and had an open mind, many children wouldn't feel like they have to hide. I Am Jazz is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. This book is on a list of banned books. After you read the book, visit Trans Kids Purple Rainbow Foundation for more information.

I Love Jazz!
During quarantine, I binged I Am Jazz and immediately fell in love with the entire Jennings Family. They are the most supportive and loving family that I strive to be for my M2F child. Although my child is 20, I thought this would be such a special and cute book to have. If my daughter was able to verbalize what she was thinking and going through at a much younger age, this book would have been perfect for her to understand that she's not the only one with gender dysphoria. This book is also a simple way to explain being transgender to cis children and that every child wants to be accepted for who they are and not by their gender.

Perfect real life story for kids to relate to or gain compassion from.
I really love this book. It doesn’t give a lot of details of her experience. It just highlights the important big pieces. And would be easy for any young child to comprehend and either learn from or relate to. Great read!

Nothing wrong with this book.
Purchased solely because I live in a state where this book is actually being banned from school libraries. Love the story and message. Shaking my head and rolling my eyes if this is actually offensive to someone.

Thank you, thank you and thank you again
What can I say.My child not only is gender dysphoric but also has ASD spd and adhd so getting them to sit so I can explain that although hey feel like a girl they are in a boys body has been very near impossible and in truth they refused to accept that explaination. Then today this book arrives. Simply written with beautiful illustrations my child must have read this book at least 10 times in a few hours before declaring to myself and my Mother that they were just like Jazz - a girls brain in a boys body.Well done Jazz Jennings. You are a brave girl and with the others that worked on this book with you have made it a complete triumph and have succeeded where I have failed in helping my little one understand what's happening.Thank you, thank you and thank you again

Bought it for my friends child who is just starting to come to terms as is their family and it's an amazing story that is fantastically written with great understanding and also ideal for parents who need to let go of their "sons" and embrace their daughters

A lovely story
This is a lovely book and well written. It illustrates how it's other people who are confused about transgender and how they (teachers etc) need to get themselves up to speed and find out more.

Great
Ideal introduction to transgender issues for young children. Read it to children age 8 to 11. They sympathised, understood and then we're thrilled to find out that Jazz is "real".
