High quality ham radio at a very reasonable price!
Writing just to share experience of my brother with Bao UV-82 radios. Last autumn he was wanting the High Power radio, something with a real powerful signal. So, as many other ham lovers- i got him the baofeng uv 82hp as it is advertised as having 8 Watts Power. But when I tested it (with charged batteries) it was lower than 7.4W, so I was a bit disappointed.A few weeks ago my friend (ham amateur) told be about the Mirkit Radios and I figured I'd give it a try! So I ordered the Uv-82 radio. It has the MP option, which means Max Power as I understand it, so I was excited to see what it could do.Arrived on time and in good condition and very fast. I asked Mirkit for the link for special firmware in order to try flash uv-82 MP with Chirp. And you know- It was wonderful: not only the flashing process took me less than 2 mins, but it also only took me one try! Thx to instruction from the selling guys! After that I made a few tests of power... and the conclusion I made- MP outperforms HP in three points 1) uv- 82 from Mirkit is a real Max Power- the signal coverage is even more then I expect and if I use the local repeater, the signal covers all area. 2) Flashing process goes very smooth and easy because guys from Mirkit tested the flashing of these radio on their own and really dig the theme! So MP -rules by the signal power and flashing process. 3) HP is more expensive than the MP option.Choose wisely!73s, for all!

Packed full of features - Great Radio at an excellent price
This is a great two-wayt radio. I own Motorola, iCOM and now these Baofeng radios. I would subjectively rate the Baofeng “Mirket” as follows: Build Quality = 8, TX/RX Quality = 8.5, Features = 9.5 and Price = 10+. I now own 6 of these radios as I slowly replace the other units. The dual watch and dual PTT has become a must have for me.The “Mirkit” version gives you the added Tx power and the upgraded 2800mAh battery. Note: These are full HAM Radios and you must follow all FCC rules.

Clarity awesome and programming easy. Lots of functions for 30 bucks and feels sturdy.
I got this as a back up for my regular dept radio Moto HT1250. This thing is pretty awesome. The sound quality is amazing and funny thing it picks up better than my radio that's 20 x's more expensive. I used the regular baofeng programming software for Windows due to its likeness to Motorola software. I read the reviews on chirp and how many preferred that it's purely up to you. Now I am use to the ability of zones and defined scan list which I emailed the mfg. on but overall this is an awesome little piece. Again you may see many review videos, pros and cons. For 30 bucks I would trust this thing if my life depended on it and I am picky and understand the importance of good coms. I've delt with many radio brands over the years, BK, MOTOROLA, RELM, ICOM, KENWOOD, and Ericcson. You honestly get a lot for 30 bucks.

Much Better Than the Standard UV-82 5 Watt
I LOVE this radio! I have several UV-%Rs, and a UV-82 5 watt already, but this Mirkit 8 watt edition seems to work much better. I customized the squelch settings as I do with all my BaoFeng radios, but the 5 watt version seems to pick up much more interference, or is just less capable of filtering out noise. This Mirkit 8 watt version has been rock solid from the very beginning! I will update this review if anything changes, but so far so great!

Not as powerful as my genuine UV82HP's
I needed a 3rd radio to compliment my pair of UV82HP's that I purchased directly from BaoFeng. They worked fine with CHIRP and with my BaoFeng USB programming cable. I tested the radio at 146.000 and 435.000 for power output and SWR of the included antenna. I compared to one of my other radios. Everything was done with fully charged batteries. Wattage was done on high with a 50ohm dummy load.Mirkit VHF:Power: 6.1 WattsSWR: 2.3Baofeng VHF:Power: 8.0 WattsSWR: 1.72Mirkit UHF:Power: 6.6 WattsSWR: 2.6BaoFeng UHF:Power: 7.4 WattsSWR: 2.5Another thing I noticed is the speaker makes a "pop" sound every time I press a button on the keypad. My genuine BaoFeng UV82HP's do not do this.Obviously the Mirkit radio's performance is lower than my other UV82HP's. The real kicker of the deal is that I purchased my other pair as a package for $30 per radio, and the Mirkit is $40.I recommend passing on this radio and purchasing a true UV82HP from BaoFeng.

Great value
Radio is awesome! Really great deal for the quality. Beats spending $200-400 on a Motorola and I like that I can program it on my own easily. The screw on the side to the earpiece port broke as I was unscrewing it for the second time. The sound is a little poorer through the earpiece that comes with the radio, but I'm sure that can be fixed by purchasing another higher quality earpiece. Overall it gets the job done, several people at work are looking at this one as a cheaper alternative to the Motorolas our company provides.
