This has been absolutely amazing for me. Beginner fly fisherman and was able to land some native brookies on em. Great value for the money, Lots of variety, Build quality is not bad but its not the BEST. Very easy to use. Overall you will not be disapointed whatsoever if buying this. it was exactly what i need to get going!

A lot of reviewers are complaining about tie quality, unraveling, not looking like the pattern they're supposed to, etc. Well, I sometimes feel like the guy that buys the one defective product out of a thousand. Maybe I went to the other end of the curve on this one because these are remarkable. I took a chance because I've purchased boxes like this for about the same price so didn't have much to lose. The box is fantastic too, BTW. Trust me, I've tied thousands of flies in my life. It's just that I primarily fish big streamers now and was venturing to lands of small creeks and didn't have the time. OMG, it would've take me hundreds of dollars in labor value to pull this off anyway. I fished a bunch of them, and they held up just fine. If you really wanted to make them last through 20 fish, take a toothpick and put a tiny dab of superglue on the heads. Anyway, I know there's going to be product quality variation here when they're made in a sweathshop by underpaid, untrained kids. God, that just made me sick to my stomach. I need to rethink what I buy.

Was fine for small fish and trying different patterns.

I purchased this kit around 2 years ago. This is a great kit if you are looking for a good mix of flies. This is far less expensive than buying individual flies from a sporting goods store. I tie my own flies and have been doing it for years. When I saw this kit, I thought it would be nice to either be able to mimic some or use some for spare parts. The case is very nice and its sturdy. If you are packing for a fishing trip the case keeps your flies from being damaged. It also allows you to open easily and select the correct lure for the job. With how tedious they are to tie; It was nice and inexpensive to pick up an entire kit for cheap. This makes a nice gift to self or to another. I will purchase this again when I start to run low.

The product did the job

I started out fly fishing by learning about the hatches and following them to a T. After a while I got a bit lackadaisical about it and just said “meh…” and went with whatever fly was already on the line. I realized that I caught just as many fish either way. I learned that the presentation matters more, at least this has been my personal experience. This kit has a lot of flies and other lures to choose from. I’ve been using it for a while and I’ve caught a lot of fish. I’m happy with it and I feel like others would be too.

I am a new fly fisherman, I wanted to give these a try to see if they were worth it....well they are not terrible but I wouldn't purchase again or for a big trip. They can definitely get you buy and I caught a couple of trout but they do start to unravel after a few hours of use. Overall they work but i have only used about 15% of the flies.

We are novice fly fisherman. Didn't want to spend too much. Package is sturdy and flies look good. We're not trying them out until August.
