Saved my breastfeeding journey
These were great. I bought them in desperation as my son’s latch is painful for the first 20-30 seconds and then settles. He is 3 weeks old and I really didn’t want to give up BF him. I do recommend that you see a lactation consultant or visit a local BF cafe to check for tongue tie or shallow latch before using these. Pain on initial latch is normal. Pain throughout the feed isn’t. Pros - makes it easier for baby to latch - reduces pain on initial latch - makes BF more comfortable - helps with the dread of feeding when initial latch is painful - helps with continuing BF during early weeks - protects nipples during first few weeks of BF or if your baby has been cluster feeding and your nipples are worn down Cons - can fall off or baby can knock them off your nipple if they’re worked up and very hungry - might be tricky when out and about and trying to feed a hungry baby as they can be fiddly to get on and keep on Overall I like having them as an option but I don’t use them all the time. They would be tricky when out and about as it’s a lot of effort to put them on and then get baby on. They can fall off too. The BF brigade don’t recommend them but do what works for you and your baby. These allowed me to carry on BF which can only be to my baby’s benefit.

Pure awesomeness, worth every penny
My partner had hard time in the beginning of breastfeeding. Child was not latching correctly from day one,it took her few days to learn and she caused a bit of damage to the nipples which caused an nfection and possibly metastitis. We had to use antibiotics and pain killers... We really didn't want to use formula but breast feeding was extremely painful (my partner said that labour was easier and less painful) and caused a lot of tears every time she was feeding. Needless to say this caused too much unnecessary stress for her and baby. Because baby was feeding every two hours her nipples wouldn't heal either so pain was not going away. She was bleeding from nipples and eventually one nipple got clogged up and she wasn't able to extract milk but milk was building up. I found these after trying all usual recommended things by everybody(ie. Creams, latching experts pain killers, breast pump for feeding from the bottle . (God people are annoying and they all think they are experts! She was in a lot of pain and everybody thought they knew better. Imagine having nipple pierced every two hours for weeks) anyway. I ordered this inexpensive (compared to all methods mentioned above) toy, thinking its just gonna be another money wasted. God how wrong I was. Needless to say, it allowed her to continue to breast feed, her nipples healed and our little one even liked it. We clean them and sterilise them after each feed so we have ordered two more packages to do the cleaning just twice a day. You get two per pack and it's important to get correct nipple size. They can be microwave sterilised or boiled. They also come with storage box so you can take them with you. They are worth every penny just remember to get the right size!

Well-designed and helpful for latch and nipple pain, but not a long-term solution
The Medela Silicone Contact Nipple Shields (24 mm) are a thoughtfully designed tool for nursing mothers experiencing latch issues, nipple pain, or flat/inverted nipples. Made of ultra-thin, soft silicone and BPA-free, these shields provide a barrier without sacrificing much sensation or closeness. Pros: ✔ Soft, flexible material – Feels comfortable even on sore or cracked nipples. ✔ Open contact design – Allows for skin contact and maintains a natural breastfeeding experience. ✔ Good flow and latch support – Baby was able to latch more easily and feed efficiently. ✔ Comes with a hygienic storage case – Great for travel or tossing into the diaper bag. Cons: ✖ Can slip during feeding – You may need to hold it in place while latching. ✖ Not intended for long-term use – Best used as a short-term aid alongside lactation support. ✖ Cleaning requires care – While easy to rinse, the thin silicone can be damaged if not handled gently. Summary: This is a high-quality nipple shield that can make breastfeeding less painful and more manageable during the early struggles. It should be used as a temporary aid while working on resolving latch issues with professional guidance.

They’ve made breast feeding with inverted nipples entirely possible!
These were recommended by the infant feeding team when we were readmitted with jaundice. I have inverted nipples which meant baby would really struggle to latch, and stay latched, on the breast. I prefer this design to another that we had as it has a gap. The IFT nurse recommended positioning the shield so that the gap on the shield is in line with baby’s chin so skin to skin is still possible. While I’d prefer not to need the shields (they can be a bit messy when taken off and baby sometimes pulls at them causing them to come off), they’ve really made breast feeding possible for me ensuring baby gets a decent feed. I’ve ordered multiple sets so that we always have some available. They are easy to wash and sterilise and come in a handy little container for travel.

Fine but not great
I bought these as my left nipple is flat and i was struggling to get baby latched. They are nice quality and come in a handy case. I do find i struggle to get them to stay on and have to hold it. You cant use nipple balm under them as they just slide off. They are comfortable and easy to clean with soapy water. I do find they are a bit long, beyond where your nipple goes so milk collects in the end and if your not careful spills everywhere as you remove. I learnt to get baby to drink it before removal. The only thing id say is they are good to get baby latched but try not to rely on them for every feed otherwise youll struggle to feed without them, baby might develop a preference for the shape.

Saved my breastfeeding journey!!
If you’re experiencing a lot of nipple pain when latching seriously TRY THESE! I was about to give up breastfeeding due to excruciating pain from cracked and bleeding nipples, until a friend recommended these shields to me. I’d never even heard of nipple shields before. They allowed me to continue BF without the pain and over a couple of days my skin was able to fully heal. My baby is still able to achieve a full deep latch with no problems whatsoever, the flow from the shields is excellent, they’re super thin and easy to apply, and they’ve honestly just made breastfeeding feel like an enjoyable experience again. Just an absolute game changer and I wish I knew about them for my first baby. I’m going to continue to use them for the foreseeable future!

Work great
There work great and are thinner than some other brands. My baby boy was struggling to latch so I bought these and they have been a game changer.

Didn't stick safely. Gave up and threw in the bin.
Useless. I followed all the instructions and the shield didn't stick on safely at all so I had to hold in place. Additionally, the teat was too big for my newborn and caused a lot of distress when he couldn't get any milk. I gave up pretty much straight away and they've gone in the bin.

Nip savers
Saved me from having to stop breastfeeding, I started using these when my son was only 1 month and I couldn’t handle the pain from cracks and sore nips. My midwives advises against this but I’m glad I trusted my gut because I’m going on 3 months breastfeeding now pain free!

Incredible product!
Without these shields I probably would of given up on breastfeeding! Unfortunately, my baby was born very small and had issues with latching. These shields have made it so much easier for the both of us. Definitely reccomend giving these a try if you difficulties with latching!
