Bellino Soft Torrone 6.35 oz (180g) 18 pieces

It's been almost two months since my mom received the Nougat-Palooza for Mother's Day, and she finally cracked open the final box this week. My mom has a thing for soft Italian nougat - or Torrone as it is called. Every holiday either me or the kids pick her up a couple bars of Torrone from our local CP World Market store. Unfortunately, once January or early February hits, her nougat stock plummets and she's left with nougat withdrawal until December rolls around again since no one sells Italian nougat outside of the holidays. After a search on Amazon, I was happy to discover that there are several varieties of nougat available, including Bellino Soft Torrone, so I bought her a variety for Mother's Day.The Bellino Torrone was very well received by my mom. The nougat comes in a single flavor - Vanilla Almond - and each piece is individually wrapped and boxed within the larger gift box. My mom liked this for two reasons - one, because the nougat is portioned out, she's less likely to eat too much in one sitting, and two, she could share the nougat with everyone and everyone got their own little box. The nougat is pleasantly sweet, is full of crunchy almonds, and the texture of the candy is soft and chewy, but not tough. Each piece is sandwiched between a thin edible wafer. I wasn't terribly thrilled with this wafer was it was a lot softer than other wafers on nougat I've eaten, and the wafer texture was a bit off - it tore almost like leather. Thankfully it dissolved easily, but this wafer definitely was much more noticeable than wafers on other nougat pieces, in a "not so good" way. It wasn't bad enough to ruin the nougat though.Overall, this is a really lovely box of nougats to gift. The candy is delicious and beautifully boxed. I definitely would buy this again for my mom.

This candy comes in a beautiful presentation box with each piece of nougat candy individually wrapped in a lovely little box. The candy is soft as it should be but it had no flavor to it. That is the reason for the 4 stars. It was fresh and good quality but it needed a flavoring extract added to it.

JUST WHAT I WANTED. AND CAME SO QUICKLY.

I would normally give these 5 stars but they have a little paper-thin starch/potato wafer layer on either side that we all thought was paper when we first tried it. It takes some getting used to, but is very tasty and fresh. Oh, and it looks very fancy and beautifully packed but one other positive/negative aspect is that they come individually wrapped, which is great for freshness but not so much for the environment.
