Depending what size your board, start with a table spoon and rub in with a paper towel. Once dry buff up with a tea towel.

This is food safe mineral oil, not sold for comsumption - for external use only.

Would this work on a kitchen work top too top up the protective layer

I would say no because you use food on your tops so I would use one off the oils recommended for cutting boards as they food safe hope that helps
