Choripdong Red Pepper Powder For Kimchi (coarse) 454g 1lb

Like so many others on here I bought this for some serious (wild garlic) Kimchi making. Have to say it has worked very well having a nice gentle heat that builds as the Kimchi matures. It is described as coarse but in reality it is still well ground with a fine-ish flake that IS coarser than it would be if it was finely ground (!!) but it really isn't THAT coarse. This bag weighs a whole pound, so you get loads for your money and in my case the expiry date was over a year hence so even if I wasn't chucking it in/on everything (which I am!) it would last for a good while. As well as a nice heat level it tastes good too and has a bright red colour which I equate with it being fresh - so it's a good all round purchase with which I am more than happy.

This is my go to for my kimchi and other korean recipes. As soon as it arrived I started a huge batch of different types of kimchi. I have tried others but prefer this one. I think it may be a little milder than some I've used, but my husband doesn't do 'too' hot. I use alot of it so I like the larger bags which is excellent value for money.

First to kimchi maker here! (Well on my second batch now) This pepper powder is perfect but please be aware it is coarse not fine, so depending on your preference it may not be right for you. I prefer it and both batches of kimchi have came out great.

Bought for making kimchi as not available locally - this is in a massive bag. Good if you want to make loads of kimchi - we were just experimenting and so will probably have to bin the rest.
