Review: Mercedes of travel mugs! - I have spent many hours researching travel mugs, so I could finally have a leak free hot latte every morning when I commute to work. This was the winner. With this leak free AUTO SEAL mechanism , a Mercedes of coffee mugs. It was expensive too, minimum £25 so I decided to wait an order one on desertcart US half the price including the delivery . I even ordered extra one for my partner. While I was waiting I bought a budget HIWILL Double Walled Vacuum Insulated Travel Coffee Mug, for ten pounds. I chose the smaller size for my son and was using it while waiting for Contigo. Yes it was too small for a large latte but leak proof and hot for hours!!! When contigo 2.0 arrived it was impressive but heavy. The auto seal works well and it's easy to clean. It's bigger than Hiwill but that's what I wanted, Unfortunately coffee loose the temperature very quickly. Having been using the hiwill I could feel huge difference. No more hot coffee on my desk when I arrive to work. So disappointed....I am considering sending them back , but it will be to US ... UPDATE: After few hit and misses with latte temperature and rinsing the cup with boiling water to make it hot I have no issues with the right temperature for at least 3 hours ! A win! Review: Excellent flask - Keeps my coffee hot or at least warm enough to drink for hours. I find my coffee still hot after 5 hours and warm enough after 7. The lid has a toggle to lock the flash to prevent accidents. I find the press button to open the drinking aperture to work well. I opted for the stainless steel finish, because I thought the others might get tatty quite quickly. After 4 months it still looks fine. The flask is robust and I have had no leakage. There is an advisory not to put the flask inside your bag, so I guess the manufacturers are not 100% confident. It is easy to clean, with the locking mechanism designed to open up specifically for that purpose. And it also fits the drinks holder in my car perfectly. I am happy. ## Features - DOUBLE UP: This handy 2-pack is ideal for sharing, gifting, or ensuring you always have a mug handy when you need one - LEAK-PROOF & SPILL-PROOF: Patented AUTOSEAL technology is easy to use, just hold the button down to drink; the lid closes between sips when released and a lock button secures your mug for leak-proof travel - TRAVEL WELL: Take Contigo on-the-go with confidence, knowing that your journey will be mess-free - SIP AT THE IDEAL TEMP: Drinks stay hot for up to 5 hours and cold for up to 12 hours - DO MORE: One-handed operation makes it easier to multitask - CLEAN INSIDE & OUT: The underside of the lid opens for thorough cleaning; lid is top-rack dishwasher-safe - RELIABLE PERFORMANCE: Limited lifetime guarantee (only applicable in US & Canada. If I lay it on its side, will it leak? What if I throw it in a bag (e.g. backpack, messenger bag, etc.)?** A: I have two and I put coffee in one and water in the other. I then put them Inside my tote bag (no pockets). They do not leak!!!! You can lay them down, turn them upside down or shake them and they will not leak. Disclaimer: You must keep the top closed and the top must be screwed on correctly and tightly. Keeps liquids hot or cold for hours!!! Best travel cup ever!!!!!! **Q: Is the interior stainless or plastic?** A: The interior is a stainless metal. **Q: Does anyone know what the difference is between this model with "Easy Clean Lid" and the previous model with "Open-Access Lid"? Which is better?** A: Easy clean lid is better but 1st seals used by mfg. squeaks when you go to drink. Don't know if mfg. changed to seals which don't squeak. Does anyone know if currently shipping Easy Clean Lid still squeaks when actuated to drink? Are Easy Clean Lids interchangeable between earlier earlier 20 oz stainless steel travel mugs? **Q: Just bought these and soaked tops in warm water, coffee still tastes like plastic/rubber will this go away?** A: We hand wash ours with dish soap and water, rinse thoroughly and then boil some hot water to blow out the top. This gets the crud out of the air holes under the lock. Now if I just had a replacement seal for around the lid, I'd be grand. I've had mine for about ten years...they definitely start to taste like whatever you put it in every day. With a daily rinse, it helps a ton. The plastic taste should go away rather quickly. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mercedes of travel mugs! *by M***. on 12 March 2018* I have spent many hours researching travel mugs, so I could finally have a leak free hot latte every morning when I commute to work. I have to make my coffee cooler now as this keeps it too hot as the insulation is excellent. UPDATE.update May 2025 now 1 jan 2026 still going strong. I bought this flask back in 2018 and use it several times most days at least 330 days a year. Its been dropped loads of times and the base fell off, this was a metal cap fitted for aesthetics as the flask is still retaining the heat and the mechanics of the no spill top are still going well . It’s a well made piece of kit and served me very well.
