Good product
I like this knife

I wish I had bought one years ago
POSITIVE: 1. This is really useful for marking lines precisely; far more accurate than a pencil or scriber. 2. If you press lighly, the cut has virtually no thickness and is tighter to the ruler than a pencil-line. 3. It arrived sharp and blemish free. NEGATIVE: 1. The handle is unbelievably light and can't have much strength (Poplar wood?). 2. A light cut is not visible on straight-grain wood. Cutting deeper risks breaking the flimsy handle. 3. It is carbon-steel and prone to rust so it needs to be stored with a corrosion inhibitor of some sort. Oiling it will risk making the wrong sort of marks! RECOMENDED? A cautious 'YES'. The handle is worrying but it would be easy enough to make a replacement handle.

Good Quality
Good quality vs price point. Wooden handle. Feels nice. Very very sharp. Easily cuts across the grain. Flat vack allows you to mark right to the line every time. Recommended.

Surprised and very impressed
Firstly, the item looks nothing like the picture, the knife has rounded hardwood handle with a very attractive deep grain with a large ferrule to hold the blade, which is diamond-shaped ( or more accurately rhombus-shaped ) with a major axis of 40mm, which gives two marking edges of just over 15mm that come to a robust sharp point, a point which is excellent for making small marking points, which is a big improvement on my previous various half-measures. The blade body has a very reassuring and robust thickness of 3.4mm, it is very very flat on one side and the two sharp marking edges are created by large bevels of the blade. The whole thing feels light to hold and looks sculptured and elegant and is a pleasure to look at. A very very nice tool that is beautifully proportioned and functional, and only £6 or so, so top marks for value for money too. Edit: since writing the review the picture seems to have been updated and now reflects reality.

The usual Faithfull quality
The shape of this marking knife makes it particularly useful, giving the ability to mark to either side of a guide. The detachable protective cover for the blade is a useful addition. It is good quality, solid and economical as I have come to expect from the Faithfull brand.

Very useful
Very useful tool. Came sharp straight out the packet, seems a good quality blade and well made. I’ve knocked a star off as the finish on the handle is horrible. Real shame everything else is spot on but they have put the cheapest, patchiest finish on it.

Faithfull 7" Marking Knife - Not as it's shown...
Although there is nothing wrong with the quality of the product, which for the price, is beautifully mounted in rose wood, and remarkably sharp, there has been a mistake in regards to the picture Amazon have advertised for it. Fellow shoppers need to know that the knife that arrives does not resemble the one in the picture. The knife I received has the same coloured wood handle as the picture, but the blade is a diamond shape with bevelled edges on all sides. Rather than the top of the blade having a straight edge, the actual product comes to a point. Also the handle is spherical in shape, which actually seems nicer to hold than the pictured knife. The knife has a purpose, but isn't as suited to running along a straight edge for marking up. Ironically, without my knowing my Dad had purchased another marking knife with a straight blade on the same day, so now we have one for both purposes. The point is, I was OK with all this, but others may not be, depending on your needs. So be warned the knife above looks completely different. That is why I have deducted 1 star, because it could have been annoying having to deal with returns, re ordering etc.. Amazon need to make sure the pictures they have are updated for all of their products, on a regular basis. As a product though, for the money, it is excellent quality.

Cuchillo para marcar de muy buena calidad. Fácil de afilar y retiene el filo muy bien. El bisel a un lado permite crear una buena pared donde apoyar la espalda del formón con bastante precisión.
