Fortunately the solution is relatively simple
I moved to Makita Cordless Professional tools about 3 years ago and at the same time purchased 3 X 3Ah batteries and they have been used constantly with no issues.One of them the other day would no longer charge, time for a new battery, so looked through Amazon to discover a 4Ah battery was available but there was an issue, ( possibly ), with the 4Ah not fitting some Makita tools but went ahead and purchased one, direct from Amazon, received yesterday 2/3/2016.If I understood the problem correctly the Amazon solution as suggested by other users was to alter the battery or charger but if your existing battery had a YELLOW connector the 4Ah battery would fit the power tool and the charger.THIS IS NOT THE CASE, it will fit the charger but not the slightly older power tools.Fortunately the solution is relatively simple.ONE SIDE ONLY of the 4Ah battery moulding is slightly different to the 3Ah one and needs a little bit of plastic trimmed.In my case I used my trusty Dremel to do the job, it might be possible to achieve the same result using a very sharp utility blade and/or a hot one.I have uploaded three stock photos, the 1st is the 3Ah battery, the 2nd is the 4Ah one, look carefully and you will see the slight difference in the battery mouldings and the 3rd is still the 4Ah with a red line showing where I cut and removed a 3mm sliver of plastic.Voila!, 4Ah battery fits my Makita cordless tools and works just fine.

La compré sin saber cómo funcionaban las nuevas baterías de li-ion en las herramientas inalámbricas y la verdad es que fue una sorpresa ver el rendimiento de esta batería. La compré para una llave de impacto y tiene una duración muy alta, la verdad es que es difícil cuantificar la duración, pero para varias horas apretando tornillos da, si es continuo pues no sabría decir el tiempo, pero está muy bien, y el peso no es una exageración.
