Very versatile mobile vise
This vise is very nice for the price, it's very smell but very sturdy with a solid design. First glance: I noticed the ball joint, threaded rod, and guide pins were quite dry with a very light machine oil applied so I disassembled the unit degreased it then liberally coated the metal on metal contact points, the ball joint, the threaded rods, and the guide pins with moly grease: 1. Unscrewing the threaded rod all the way releases the front jaw half. 2. Using a size 2 slotted screwdriver you can gently pry the circlip from the threaded rod shaft which releases the threaded rod from the jaw assembly. 3. Unscrewing the smaller spring/washer retained bolt and the two larger phillips screws frees the ball joint clamp assembly. There is no bushing or bearing to take the load of the guide pins so i filled the jaw half cavities with moly grease and after assembling the unit i wiped off all the excess that built up and degreased the jaw halfs so now the unit is built more accordingly to last a lot longer. I'm looking into designing some bushings and guide pin bearings to print with my 3d printer to see if i can make the jaws stay aligned and not wobble. Overall its a great vise and i've needed a vise for decades but dont have a proper solid table that would be suited for bolting a big solid vise, this is a hobby vise that is mobile and is perfect for my airsoft gunsmithing. 5/5 would recommend to anyone, I'd also suggest mirroring my actions to degrease clean and grease the unit with a proper grease designed for metal on metal contact that will reduce wear ultimately prolonging the longevity of the vice, I know it's only £22 but a bit of rust or uneven wear or galling would ruin things quickly.

Good compact vice
Great little bit of kit, clamps on to most surfaces. Good range of angles and also width of grip. Would recommend for DIY or if you need a portable vice and you're short on space.

Nice little vice shame about the chips
From my research this little vice seemed to fit my needs: - still in the packaging (pic 1) looks ok, it’s advertised with 3”(75mm) jaw opening capability more than enough for my needs (pic 2), I noticed 2 chips to the main body (pic 3) disguised with touch up paint. The under bench toggle screw quick release clamp for bench attachment (pic 4) is ideal and secure. The ball joint rotating vice body (pic 5, 6) provides multi positioning and the clamp appears secure, durable and solidly built, no problems with the ball adjustment as I read in other reviews. This product ticks all the boxes for a small bench top multi function vice. I rated versatility and sturdiness as 5* as a reflection of the above. Although the vice is sturdy and on first inspection feels well made and durable 3* are awarded to ‘value for money’. As noted the vice arrived in its packaging damaged with 2 visible chips, main body, both disguised by touch up paint (pics 7 and 8), (pic 9) shows the ball seating plate again paint chipped this time showing bare metal. I feel the vice should have been advertised as slightly damaged or offered with a discounted price. I’m not returning the vice as the damage doesn’t affect the operation of the product, it’s a vice it’s going to get knocked about in use, but damaged goods are damaged goods. All in all a good purchase at a reasonable price.

Excellent Product
This vice is just excellent. But a bit of context first: I need a vice for modest woodworking jobs, scale modelling and the like, and so I purchased one of the other offerings here on Amazon. Specifically, the DAKFOOK 80mm Table Vice Clamp for £20.99. It seemed pretty good when it arrived, but I noticed soon that the lever that locks the vice to prevent it swiveling around would not lock tight, meaning that relatively little force would cause the unit to rotate around the desk-/bench-clamp. In addition, closing and opening the jaws started making a grinding sound, which came from the clip that keeps the one half of the jaws assembly where it should be. Duly, I decided to return it for a refund and started shopping for something else. I noticed however that a great many of the vices available from Amazon (at the low end of the price range, same as this vice) are obviously constructed using essentially the same castings. That is, there is probably some principal supplier for the companies that sell these vices, which manufactures the castings to which the vice companies apply paint etc. and do a little assembly. Clearly, there was no point in my purchasing one of the competitors to the DAKFOOK as I would be purchasing a replica essentially that would yield only the same or similar problems all over again. So I looked at the Stanley vice, bought it (for just one pound more than the DAFOOK) and I am now one very happy bunny. This is an excellent product - high quality castings, everything tightens and loosens as it should, things align as expected; a sound impression of professionalism - there are no apparent problems at all. In particular, I was concerned about the lockable ball-socket feature, but my fears went unrealized. That is very good indeed, giving an excellent range of movement (three degrees of freedom) and it locks rock steady. It seems unlikely that you would get away with trying seriously heavy-duty wood-/metal-working with this vice. After all, it clamps to your table/workbench rather than being screwed down (note: the bench clamp is very good, like everything else with this product), but it is not really intended for that. It suits someone with my lower-scale requirements down to a tee - I should have got one of these years ago. A final point: I read pretty much all the other reviews here for this product and I must say I had no issues with chipped paint and the like that those reviews mention. The paintwork on the item I received is just fine, so it seems fair to say that those items to which those other reviews refer were simply oddities that fell below the quality control threshold. This is an excellent, inexpensive product of very competent construction. Stuff the competition in this price bracket, get yourself one of these.

Recommended hard wearing, solid...
Great piece of kit, a lot harder wearing than some other hobby craft vices, not made from plastic! Good grip, versatile angles, will hold small pieces as well as larger ones and locks tight to the bench. Takes a lot of abuse without failing.... Got this one after seeing the Dremel version a friend uses, he bought one right after my recommendation and threw the Dremel away!

Excellent table vice
The table vice is excellent for a variety of jobs. I was able to easily sharpen a shovel with it. It would do great for crafts, electronics, and any light to medium duty jobs. It’s well designed with lots of practical features. Easy to use, stable and compact. A note of warning - Mine did come with a few minor cosmetic marks. Cf. picture. It doesn’t affect the performance or the lifespan of the tool but then I’ll keeping it inside the house where it’s warm and dry. If I was to keep it in a shed I would get a replacement just in case. Still 10/10.

CHEAP AND PERFECT!!
Very honestly, I cannot recommend this vice highly enough. It is relatively small, but has an awesome grip, and is very very versatile. Pros: + Very cheap + Small + Very sturdy + The multi-angle is much more useful that you'd think + If you need a simple stable one instead of a multi-angle, this rests nicely on it's side for a permanent small-ish vice with good grip + The jaws open quite a lot for it's size and you can fit an entire small pcb inside for soldering So and so: * It could have benefited from attached spirit levels to make sure it's level, but honestly I can't complain for the price. Negative: - The jaw pads are very sensitive to high temperatures - The only thing I can think of which isn't ideal, is that if you damage the jaw pads, it would be almost impossible to find replacements. Also, the replacements (if you are so lucky to find any) will probably cost about half the price of a new vice :( Do not let the negative dissuade you from buying this. Just be careful when using the jaw pads, or if what you're going to be holding will heat up, just remove the pads, do your job and replace them. If you damage them, buy some A70 black rubber and some tire glue and make new ones, as this is the cheapest and easiest method to replace them

Solid bit of kit!
Bought to hold golf clubs while regripping and restoring old woods, solid bit of kit and spot on for what I wanted. Easy to use, good tightening handles no sharp bits. Works as it should and the 360 spin is excellent.

Really great product.
I have another portable table vice that I bought years ago, some no-brand low quality product which was OK but disappointed on a few things. I wanted something better and I'm very happy with this Stanley product. It exceeded my expectations. It holds work very firmly and is stable. It maintains tension in the ball joint when you loosen it so it doesn't flop about, which is a good touch. My only criticism is that the rubber guards on the mouth come off rather easily, and I expect they could get lost. But that's not a huge issue. I recommend this product.

Very impressed (I'm considering a second one)
I am very impressed with the quality of this little vice. It clamps well. When ordering, I was worried about swivel clamping, I was expecting it to have some play, but it clamps well and doesn't move.
