Love love love it - until it stops!
My original review is below. Sadly after writting this great review - I have had to return the item as it stopped working after about 6 uses/3weeks. Very sad about this. I will however buy another one, just not sure which one yet."Not great for large potatoes, but then they are quicker to do by hand. But tip in a bag of those 'delicious but far too fiddly to be bothered with' miniature potatoes and it's brilliant. 1kg takes about 3 minutes, then just rinse in a colander and cut out any black bits - 5 minutes tops compared to scraping them individually for nearly an hour! Then just rinse out the peeler in clear water, this takes a few minutes but cleans easily (never leave it to dry before cleaning) and leave to dry.For anyone thinking of getting one these are my 'helpful points':- If it stops spinning - check the long spindle bit in the side which activates the safety switch - I found the lid which should push it down works better on one side than the other.- don't put in to much water - it will come out the bottom - oops!- it is best for small and very small potatoes, esp ones you would scrub or scrape. Medium are ok but you start getting to the point where it's quicker to peel."

Save your money
Hopefully I can save you some money here. Don't buy it. This doesn't really save you any time in the kitchen; the potatoes still need a good thorough checking over afterwards to remove excess areas and it can be a pretty messy process. Smaller potatoes fare better than the larger ones and need less checking over but by the time I've checked every potato, peeled the left over skin (which there will still be a lot of) and washed the Potato Peeler, probably doesn't really save any time. Not the best kitchen gadget I've ever owned.

Not as good as the old days ....
I bought this with memories of the one my mum used in the '70's that wasn't electric, it plumbed onto the cold tap and the force of the water spun round some lethal sandpaper-looking walls that peeled potatoes no problem.Well, time, and health & safety rules, have moved on and they are all electric these days....I've only used this device once on large potatoes and it wobbled everywhere and took ages to do a rubbish job. I'll see what it's like with new potatoes in spring. If it's no good at those, it's getting auctioned!

second time lucky.
this is the second elgento potato peeler I have bought. the other one only lasted nine and half months, but missed it when it broke, so ordered another, and the fact that it was cheaoer than before, thought it was worth giving it another go. I am keeping the box this time, as it ways its guaranteed for 2 years, so if it decides to break down again in the nest 2 years, I will have the box to return it in. but really hoping this one lasts a bit longer.

Great for new potatoes
I've only tried it with new potatoes. But it works really well. I like to scrape the skin off new potatoes. But a saucepan full of them usually takes me up to 45 min to scrape. But using this machine they cleaned them in under 2 min. Without back pain between my shoulder blades. If you rinse it out immediately, it washes easily too. I haven't tried old potatoes yet. After I have tried using it for them I shall edit this review, either way. It also has a salad spinner which I think will work better than a manual operated one. Make sure every time you use it that you don't loose the bit of plastic that acts as a safety device when the lid is on. If you loose this bit then the machine will not operate

... action but certainly does the job well and the waste is 100% washable down the sink which is
a loud tool but makes short work of a task that would ordinarily take an old family member quite a while - requires holding when in use with potatoes due to the force of the turning action but certainly does the job well and the waste is 100% washable down the sink which is handy

Working well at the moment
This is my second purchase of this product, if I had realised I had gone and bought exactly the same model I would have not ordered, only had the last one for just over a year and it just stopped working, thought I had ordered a different model but have kept it and this time I purchased from Amazon so I know if I have any problems with it there won't be a problem returning it.
