Set the timer!
Old School Cool with a Modern TwistLoving the mid-century modern look and the classic old-school timer. Who needs iPhones with timers and fancy microwave clocks? Let’s take it back to the good ol’ days. This retro timer works great, looks even better, and adds a touch of charm to the kitchen!

Failed after 1 week. Another victim to the modern trend of inferior goods.
I like the look, I hate the function. Magnetizing this boldly-colored thing to my fridge door looked nice, but after 1 week of gentle and infrequent use, it stopped ringing when it hit zero. 75% of the time that I try to use it, now, when the hand hits 0 it DOESN'T ring, my food inevitably overcooks, and then the second I so much as *tap* it, it suddenly rings. It's like it's getting caught on the last tick before it can sound off...I've tried lying it flat and letting it tick that way, I've tried winding the *exact* amount and I've tried over-winding (going all the way to 55, then coming back to my desired time) and no matter what, this issue persists.I grew up with these things. They used to be bulky and reliable--nearly invincible. This is a cheaply-made impersonation of the old and good stuff. This is the product of corner cutting, inferior machining, and inferior materials. Go find a different maker/product. This is not the one for you (unfortunately).

Quality timer
I had one of these for 20+ years and it always woked well. After one too many drops on the floor, it finally died. I was hesitant to get another one because I didn't want a piece if plastic junk. This is just a sturdy and is accurate so far. Love the retro color that matches my KitchenAid appliances. My only fault is I do not like the new buzzer sound. The old one was more of a ringing. This one sounds like a train in barreling through your kitchen... Can't say you didn't hear it though, lol!!

Nice Retro Mechanical Timer
Bought as a addition to our blue & yellow color themed kitchen. It works very well the only issue I have is the buzzer does not sound very loud nor ring for a long time, so you don't need to be far away. It's very practical & retro stylish, but I'm interested to see how long it will endure given it is somewhat flimsy.

Magnet feature is AWESOME. Color choices are AWESOME.
This attractive little kitchen timer is old-school, wind-up technology. Wind fully, then turn back to your desired setting. How I plan to use these is I got different colors - green I will use with vegetables; red with meats; etc. I can keep different timers for the different things I am cooking. And all of them OFF my countertop, stuck to my fridge, a few feet away from the range. The alarm is an old-school bell/clanky metal thing. Very different from any sounds on phones, so you won't mix it up with a spam text message or anything. You do need to RESPOND to the alarm, because you're not getting automatic 7 minute snoozes, like my phone does. But this is good practice anyway. That snooze is when you go from medium rare to a wasted piece of beef.If I had to give one criticism, it is that the smooth, curved surface is not a good grip for lifting the magnetized unit off its perch. I've had no real trouble with it, but with slippery hands, I could imagine it being dropped from time to time. But I'm really searching here for something to criticize. This is a wonderful, good-looking, useful kitchen tool. Buy it, buy a couple, enjoy.! Bon Appétit!

Pretty but defective
I ordered this timer because it looks beautiful and I trust the brand integrity. The first time I got was defective and it would not actually work. As the timer came down to zero, it would never ring. I made an exchange with Amazon and they sent a new one that did work. However, the ring is not very loud and it is very short, so it is easy to miss. Nonetheless I was happy with the product. A month after using the face of the timer, completely warped, and now it is hardly usable.of course I did not let Amazon know in time and just kept using it in this state. I just reached out to the manufacturer to see if they were do anything about it. This is not a cheap product and you expect to get a premium product for a premium price. That is not the case here. Though it looks nice I cannot in good conscience recommend this product. of course I did not let Amazon know in time and just kept using it in this broken state. Good buy!
It's so cute! It works well. You can hear the buzzer from the from room.At least in my apartment! If your stove doesn't have a timer it's a good purchase at this price.

Unreliable - Timer fails about one in three times
Unfortunately, the return policy on this supposed marvel of German engineering is only 30-days. There's no place on the Zassenhaus website to contact them to complain or request help for this little timer. I realize it's only twenty-two bucks. The instructions are very clear. Wind the thing up to the full hour and then back to the time you want to set. Even after doing that, about one in three times, the ticking stops and if your kitchen is dead silent (like any kitchen worth it's salt is ever quiet), you discover that it's just gone to sleep. Sometimes if you tap the thing in the middle it leaps to life (but only for a few minutes, when you've moved on to whatever's in the frying pan... and it stops again). If I could get in touch with the company, it would be a no-brainer. But, the combination of the defective product and no way to get help - I'd save my money if I were you. Sure it's pretty... but I still have to use my iPhone to bake my granola. And that app came free with the phone.Any Zassenhaus support people out there reading this? Why not contact me and make this right... I won't set the timer while I wait...
