Behringer does it again
I was looking for a small audio interface that was portable and reliable. I already have The Behringer u-phoria 404, Which has fantastic MIDAS mic Preโs, IVe never had any trouble with that, so I knew this was going to be a reliable piece of kit. Itโs casing is mental and the knobs Are smooth Itโs a well made unit and gives a good sound. No nasty clipping etc. Itโs been ideal for getting ideas recorded quickly with No fuss.. It fits neatly in a bag if you want to take it anywhere to record somewhere else. Itโs so easy And quick to set up which is ideal for me. It would suit just about any one , from someone just starting out recording to someone whoโs a bit more familiar with the recording process. I really like the portability of this i/o and for the price itโs a bargain. Iโve been using it for a while and itโs been a bit of a work horse . Itโs definitely been out through itโs paces and has delivered the goods every time. Iโd recommend this to anyone looking for an i/o - whether it be a first i/o , Or for something portable and reliable

Behringer UMC22 - great value for a low price
For the low price, I'm really impressed with this basic audio interface. Setup for use in Ableton Live 12 on Windows 11 was quick and very straightforward. Within about 10 minutes it was up and running. This is a 2 channel device with a combined jack and powered balanced mic socket, plus a second instrument DI jack socket. Each channel has a simple gain control with a red LED to warn about clipping. Lastly, there's a simple output gain knob with a button to toggle monitoring of the source instrument/mic or the mix. On the initial test, I found that the UMC22 lacked the oomf of my Audient iD4 interface. It also lacked the option of mixing the comparitive volumes of the inputs and mix output. Channel 1 on the UMC22 (combined mic and jack) has a built-in pre-amp, so that can help boost the input signal gain. The output to headphones on the UMC22 also seems a little low. But hey, for ยฃ33 this is a great bit of kit for a budget home studio!

Updated review: How to get Inst 2 to work on WIn10
REVIEW UPDATED from a 2 star to a 4 star review. --Note to the seller, please let people know upfront that they'll need to take an extra step to enable INST2 on WIN10. It will save the manufacturer unnecessarily bad reviews.--- The issue was that INST 2 didn't initially work - I've now resolved this (see below) Apparently many others have had this issue. I couldn't get Instrument line 2 to work on my Zoom call on my brand new Win10 laptop. To see if it was my cable or the input jack, I tested the line by using a Direct Line to speaker output and was able to get sound to my Bose speaker, so the cable or jack wasn't the issue. I downloaded the newest Behringer drivers, but still no sound coming into the computer from L2. *****The Fix to get INST2 to work***** It looks like Microsoft is the problem. This fix worked for me. 1) Right click on the loudspeaker icon in the Taskbar and select "Sounds" 2) Click on the link "Sound control" (or similar) 3) Close the "Sound Settings" window. 4) In "Sound Control Panel" (or whatever it's named), select the "Recording" tab 5) Ensure that the default device is set to any available device that is NOT the device that you want to change. 6) Right click on the device that you want to change and select "Properties" 7) Select the "Advanced" tab 8) Select the Channels / sample rate that you require (e.g. I selected 2 channels at 16bit) 9) Click "OK" With these steps I got L2 working so I could plug in an instrument. Behringer should really have provided an insert to let purchasers know about this issue, but again, once I did the above, it all worked fine. Why only 4 stars? Firstly, the gain had to be cranked nearly all the way in order to get a decent level of mic sound on the Zoom call. Apparently a Youtube review says the same. The Behringer Support section on their website has no support telephone or email listed. Instead, you have to register on their Tribe website (do I really need another online account?) and go through an extremely slow website and a tedious number of dropdowns and input boxes before your support ticket is created. You receive a "do not reply" email and hope that someone contacts you. On a positive note, I received the email from them with a recommended fix the next day, which was good. Overall, at ยฃ39, for a non-pro artist, it's a pretty good deal and a decent product with a good build quality, ideal for Zoom. Again, just be aware of the extra step in Windows required to enable the INST2 (i.e. 2nd line). I hope this helps

Fantastic Value and reliable
There are lots of audio interfaces out there. They are nearly all miles too expensive and not altogether reliable. Previously I had the Focusrite solo. It only had one channel input. It buzzed and hummed. It also kept dropping out and re-starting in both Windows 7 and Windows 10. It cost me ยฃ120. The Behringer UMC22 cost me ยฃ37 - less than a third of the Focusrite. But it has TWO input channels, does not buzz or hum, never drops out, and is so far completely reliable. My advice to anyone needing an audio interface: DO NOT needlessly spend a pile of cash on them. They essentially all do the same thing. Almost all of them are capable of low latency and fairly high quality sound output. For those complaining about setting the UMC22 up, it is simple. Just install the AsioForAll driver. It is just as good as other dedicated Asio drivers. As for enabling the second channel, simply open up your windows sound settings and under ADVANCED just scroll down the dialogue for audio quality and pick 2 channels. Done. I recommend this interface. It does as well as any other dual channel interface costing up to five times as much.

Amazing little interface for beginners
A fantastic interface for new musicians or anyone looking to get sound through midi. Straightforward setup, and pretty much ready out-the-box I personally went to the Behringer website to download the latest drivers as I do recommend always getting the latest drivers if you can. Behringer has always made great quality products both in the build quality and of course sound quality and with this little box, nothing has changed. clear, crisp balanced audio without any plugins. I personally use my interface for recording guitar and other instruments, and producing tracks on fl studio but this thing can be used for podcasts video calls and so much more. For the current price tag, it's listed for I couldn't recommend this interface any more than I currently can a brilliant product at a really affordable and reasonable price compared to others currently on the market. I will say some features like USB-C that are missing from the interface can be seen as a missout but honestly at this price you wont miss it at all

Great bit of kit! Can't fault it for the price
Works fantastically on my Macbook with Garageband, literally plug in and go with no need to install anything extra. I also used it with my PC, where I had to download a few drivers - but this was easy and after a bit of fiddling about it was a-ok. Can't fault it at all - the sound quality is great (at least to my beginner ears it is) and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable bit of kit to enable you to record great music. Already made numerous songs on it, plugging in my bass/guitar and a mic as well. The guitar/bass inputs directly, using a standard guitar jack - the microphone fits using a standard mic line, and my headphones are connected using a 5mm jack as well. The output cable is simply a USB which feeds straight into my PC, and into my Macbook using a cheap USB to USB-C adaptor I picked up elsewhere.

Decent bit of kit
Works perfectly and has plenty of options to change volume, no software so everything is done on the box

Better than the UM2, but I might find myself upgrading soon.
I've tested both the UM2 and UMC22 together. The UMC22 has less noise, a stronger pre-amp and a more stable headphone output; it doesn't drive as loud as the UM2, but it keeps volume consistent across left and right channels. Drivers are not good and you need to go out of your way to get them. I also don't like using ASIO4ALL yet it seems that has to be used in some cases. This also means DAW support feels like a minefield and you will be left troubleshooting things. FLStudio? Works fine with the Behringer USB driver. Cakewalk? I had stability issues. ProTools? It wouldn't work at all and I had to get alternative ASIO drivers or rely on VoiceMeter routing. This interface is 16-bit, 48KHz only, which has its limitations when recording very sensitive audio and manipulating them. If you want to use this interface to record electric guitar with high gain virtual amplifiers; get a pedal to amplify the sound first, like a BOSS SD-1. If you directly plug the guitar into the interface, the noise will be unusable. All-in-all, for the price this is a very good entry into audio interfaces but you may find the audio limitations and lack of support to be enough to upgrade to something more expensive. I may have to do that soon to something that is at least 24-bit.
