GJ496 Round Bottom Wok, 14"

I have grown to love this...nobody else but me is allowed to touch it! It has been lovingly seasoned and is now blackened and extremely non stick. I can even fry egg for fried rice and it will not stick. When I am done a quick wipe out with a damp cloth, then I just pop it back on the hot ring to make sure its properly dry or it will rust. I have made some amazing dishes in this, its large, it sits neatly on my giant gas ring and I can toss it as not so heavy but heavy enough. Has a quality feel and now its seasoned cooking with it is a cinch. I am glad I bought this rather than one of the non stick ones, its more authentic and I do worry about teflon at very high temperatures.

As long as you take care of this carbon steel wok properly it should pose no issues, the curvature is just perfect and so is the size, the quality is also excellent. The handle is made of real wood and will never splinter by the look and feel of it if you dont abuse it. The patina on my wok has built well and somehow better than the other wok i have (of another make). Its a relatively heavy wok so tossing it is a bit tough but for its size its not deathly heavy. The riveting is also great, i doubt it would pose issues but if it does ill write it here and update the review

I bought this wok as it looked like a good product. However! the manufacturer instructions (London Wok, Com) as to the method and process for seasoning your wok prior to use were absolutely ineffectual as it only worked on a 5" diameter on the base.Due to this mess l went on line to London Wok .Com web site, and to my surprise found their seasoning process was totally different to that which were enclosed with the wok.As the wok was mildly seasoned l believed according to London wok,reprocessing was normal practice, l followed step by step the on line (London Wok, Com).~~~~~Disaster!! l now own a burned sticky mess? not the well seasoned cooking wok l hoped for. l don,t believe l can return this wok as l will be held responsible.

The rusty wok reviews here are because they have not seasoned the wok properly. You have to be properly educated about using a wok before using it, similar to using cast iron. Pictured are two wok, one unseasoned and one seasoned. This wok is great however I knocked one star off because the handle becomes loose after only a couple of weeks using it.

I seasoned the wok before use and it looks and feels fantastic. Its a great size too. I had a smaller wok for years and food was alway spilling on to hob. The stuff stays inside the wok and there's plenty of room. It feels well made - like it will last for years.

Ignore the 1 star reviews, they're from people who don't understand carbon steel (not blaming them) or don't have the necessary hob for a round bottom wok. This wok takes some effort to prepare (seasoning) prior to use. But once seasoned and with minimal maintenance, it is fantastic. You CANNOT just use it straight from the box. 14" is a great size for cooking and is still manageable. This thing looks fantastic once seasoned and is almost completely non stick if used properly. and will build up a nice patina through regular use. For the money, it's absolutely great. A light coating of oil (and then wiped off) before storage will ensure it doesn't rust and metal cooking tools will ensure it stays non stick.

This woke is excellent value for money as well as being an excellent product. Carbon steel really is the only way to go if you are serious about wok cooking, and when seasoned it is easy to look after and is non- stick. Just follow the simple instructions to season - it's easy to do and is well worth it. Also the fact that it is round bottomed adds to its usefulness for stir-frying. I would definitely recommend this product. Much better than smaller, non-stick, flat bottome.d ones

Good value delivered in good time seems like an ok Wok for the price. Warning the wooden handle on mine came loose from the heat while burning factory oil off before seasoning.
