MaxpeditionKodiak Gearslinger Backpack

Very tough, well specified and well made piece of kit - which is why I chose it. Certainly not a 'softie' bag, which takes a bit of getting used to, but that's a function of the strength of construction. Also not the most comfortable carry, but it's OK and I can live with that for its other qualities. Could do with a couple more grab handles - especially a properly balanced one on the side for ordinary hand carrying (the one side handle is 'off-centre', evidently deliberately to enable handling it 'sideways' when on the shoulder - but that means it doesn't work as a general carry-handle). I've managed to adapt mine with a large carabiner fitted through some attachment points to create the handle I need - but that's not necessarily a solution for everyone. Also note there's no inbuilt - I.e. 'padded' - protection for laptops and other electronic stuff, but the whole thing is strong enough for protection if you're careful where you put sensitive thinga. Hence I've reluctantly, and probably harshly, deducted a star for carrying features. Imagine I'll be living with this thing for years - or maybe decades - to come!

I use this most days. Easily the best backpack I have ever owned. Incredibly good build quality - every join, zip, stitch, and piece of webbing is strong. Plenty of space inside the laptop sleeve for my MacBook Pro 15”. Key retention clip in the front pouch is very handy. Worth every penny I paid.

I had wanted a new every day work bag for a long time but could not find anything that I liked. I read a lot of reviews and watched a few youtube vids and ordered it. Excellent delivery as always from Amazon and the bag is simply amazing. This bag carries the days lunch, 2 days clothes, a small selection of work tools and usual stuff such as a book, medicines etc. with ease. I have since added some pouches - they are addictive! I have more on order - and this will just improve it's functionality, its capacity and make it unique. My old Berghaus rucksack lasted 10 years. I will not need to buy another work bag as this is so well made and easy to use. I can't award this enough stars!I also have a Maxpedition Jumbo S-Type Versipack for hobby use and it is equally superb. If you are concerned about the cost right now you won't be after spending a day with the bag. You will wonder how you got by without it.

The quality is as good as everyone says it is; awesome! I've had my Kodiak in every day use for almost 6 months now, and it still looks like brand new.However, I have to give some minus points on how it sits when I wear it. I often have to adjust it while walking because it tends to start sliding sideways. I'm not a skinny guy (85kg/182cm), yet I have to keep the shoulder strap on smallest adjustment to keep the Kodiak from moving around. I wish I could make it even tighter.

Maxpedition Kodiak Gearslinger Backpack is without reservation the most handy bag I have come across. It is sturdy, stylish, easy to shoulder and to carry, and has a lot of space to put things in. What, for me, is the absolute top on this bag, is the strap on top that allows to fasten a jacket securely and fast without interrupting the march.

Bigger brother to the Sitka. Same great quality. Easy to carry with enough space for an overnighter or two. Don't be put off by the price. You get what you pay for.
