The 32mm width of this 8m tape makes it, like other tapes this size, pretty heavy so it’s not going to sit in your pocket very easily. Having said that, the width gives it good throw and it will stay rigid for a good length. It has durability and accuracy you’d expect from Stanley and has quickly become my go to tape measure. If I was going to make a criticism it would be that the surface finish is very shiney and this can make it difficult to read in bright light. This may fade over time however. I’ve also seen other criticism that it can be reluctant to retract and this is true. Personally I like this though, my Komelon tape I lost which this replaces shot back so fiercely it almost took your eye out. The Stanley just needs a little shake to persuade it so there’s no need for safety gear.🤭

Great tape! Used daily on site to measure everything and anything. Strong and maintains rigidity for over 4M making it easy to measure large openings without need for someone to help. Tape glides well in casing and the measurements are easy to read on the tape. Only downside is its quite heavy and bulky for keeping on your person all day but the advantages outweigh these minor issues.

I've now owned this for 2 years. It's been a great measure. Very accurate and robust in construction. The spring rewind mechanism is still working perfectly. Yes, the 8m version is a little bulky, but it has to be, and I really prefer a measure like this with a wide tape. (The tape is bevelled for extra rigidity, and with the bevel the width is 28mm.) It makes reading in less than ideal light so much easier. Also, because of the width, you get a much bigger end bracket to hook onto things. So, unlike narrow tapes, it actually stays hooked on as you move away. For a mid air measurement, with care I can get the tape to 4m before it folds. Very impressive. The belt clip is still attached and working well. In fact, functionality wise, it is still as good as new. It's used most days, and has never let me down. Strongly recommended. It's a big and heavy tape - but then again it's a heavy duty FatMax. Has unreal standout length. It's at least 4m! One thing I don't like, and maybe it's just my one, is the retraction is quite poor. It doesn't waking back by itself and needs a little help. Fine for a DIYer like me though as I don't use it day in day out.

Use these all the time within my fencing business. Great tapes, very easy to read, great lock and nice large hook on the end. Pricey, but highly recommended

FatMax range, pretty much the seal of excellency in hand tools, most of the time. The thing that shocked me about this was that there is no quick lock, only the main lock, so you pretty much have to hold the blade if you're not in a position to use the main blade lock. It's quite big, and feels very solid. The best thing about this, for me, is the hook on the end of the tape. Instead of only being able to hook with the underside of the tape, you can hook with the top side, either of the sides, hook diagonally.... it's pretty handy, and makes measuring things much easier. The hook also compensates for differences in taking an inside or outside measurement, which is also a nice feature. The 4m standout claim is probably about right. I got it to 3.3m before running out of space in the room I was in. It was curving quite a bit but the blade hadn't dropped yet. Fantastic tape measure.

I have had a few of these now and I can't falt them. They are a bit heaver then other tapes but they fit in my pouch nicely. I work on building sites in all weather and these tape last me a good few years. They get wet, dropped and covered in dust and dirt and given a wipe down from time to time and there still good to go. They don't last forever but nothing now day does. I will defo be buying another one at some point.

Well built & good quality tape measure, looks good & the readability is easy and clear, locks great so always accurate. Good bit of kit, good value for money 👍👍👍
