In my experience they really do work but think .....
I started using these after a recommendation from a friend, and noticed a significant improvement in the lawn. Then, slowly I saw patches appearing on the lawn, and having read many mixed reviews, I used them on and off for a few years (maybe continuing to use them, but not replacing them as often), with mixed results. That said, I stopped using them completely for 3 months and REALLY noticed a difference in the lawn i.e. a LOT more burn patches, which led me to think about why they maybe were not working when I was using them. Simple answer - ALL of the dogs water sources need to be treated, and the tangible difference in effectiveness on my lawn also coincided with ... installing my ponds. My dog drinks out of the pond, drinks from plant pot saucers, drinks from containers in the garden that have filled with rain water, and she drinks from the bottle I take out when we go for long walks - filled straight from the tap. Duh! Basically, she will drink from everywhere except the treated water if she has the option - not because it has dog rocks, but because the other sources all probably taste nicer not originating from the tap!Since I've removed the other options, and now fill her walkies drinking bottle from an old water filter jug that now contains dog rocks and not a Brita filter (note to guests, use the fridge for drinking water not the Brita jug) .... no lawn burn at all.I don't doubt these rocks may not work for all dogs, but when my dog drinks primarily from 'dog rock water' (I'm never going to stop her slurping puddles and the like!) the burn is absolutely minimal. My advice - use dog rocks and think about the other water sources available to your dog and try to treat or minimize them. This is the reason I give them 5 stars overall but only 3 stars for ease of use - its not the product, its the nature of our dogs!

They do work, but don't expect perfection
I have been regularly using Dog Rocks for several years now and am convinced that they do work.Prior to getting this product my small lawn had been gradually deteriorating under the strain of two dogs' regular peeing, however as soon as I started using Dog Rocks the problem noticeably improved.Since then I have got into a regular pattern of using them. The packet says the Dog Rocks last for three months, and indeed they come with a little sticker to put in your diary to remind yourself that they need replacing. My approach has rather been to keep using the same Rocks until I see the urine patches start to re-appear and then replace them. Each time I replace the Rocks the "burnt" patches disappear once again, giving me renewed proof each time I'm not just throwing my cash away. The only downside really is the hassle of making sure your dog is drinking most of it's water from a supply that has been pre-soaked in the rocks. My approach is to leave the rocks sitting around in a jug full of water and then fill the dogs' bowls from that water. If you just leave the rocks directly in the dog bowl, then it's likely your dog will drink from the bowl before the rocks have had a chance to weave their magic. It's also worth saying the results aren't perfect. Your pooches' favourite wee zones may still struggle. I have a washing line pole in the centre of the lawn which my male dog can't resist, and no amount of Dog Rocks seem able to save the area immediately around that. They do however do a fantastic job of protecting from the more random patches which my lady dog leaves lying around.I have no idea how they work, and as other reviewers have commented it's hard to imagine how they could..My own experience over several years' use however is that they definitely make things significantly better.

Too big for the bowl...
I've purchased these before and have been more than pleased with them.. However, this time the rocks are too big. Normally I put them in my dogs water dispenser but as you can see from the photos this is not possible. As they are so big the water doesn't cover them... I've tried a couple of bowls. The mess my dog makes licking around the rocks is not good.Bring back small rocks as they defiantly do work.

Natural, easy, and lawn-friendly—Dog Rocks help prevent urine burn with Aussie mineral magic.
Dog Rocks are 100% natural Australian basalt stones designed to reduce lawn burn patches caused by dog urine. You simply place them in your dog’s water bowl, and they help filter out impurities like tin, ammonia, and nitrates, which are the culprits behind those yellow spots on your grass.✅ Key BenefitsNatural filtration – removes compounds that cause urine burnSafe for dogs – no additives, chemicals, or side effectsEasy to use – rinse and drop into your dog’s water bowlLasts ~2 months – one pack treats up to 2 litres of waterWorks with most diets – especially effective with kibble-fed dogs⚠️ Watch OutsNot a miracle fix – results vary depending on water hardness and dog sizeRequires consistent use – top up water daily, replace rocks every 2 monthsNo scientific proof – vets say anecdotal success, but no clinical trials

Don't Waste Your Money
Short review - Don't waste your money, it doesn't work.Long review - I'm a vet, and against my better judgment I was persuaded to try these as a solution to the brown, dead patches developing on our lawn. They haven't worked, and if you read the pseudo-scientific bunkum on the manufacturer's website, they were never going to. The simple facts of the matter can be summed up as follows - 1) dogs are carnivores, 2) carnivores eat meat, 3) meat contains protein, 4) digesting protein creates nitrogenous waste, 5) carnivore urine contains high levels of nitrogen, 6) small amounts of nitrogen act as a fertiliser, high levels of nitrogen act as a weedkiller (as far as grass is concerned). It doesn't matter what nonsense the manufacturers spout about rebalancing nutrients or ions in the water (meaningless), or even worse "changing the paramagnetic balance of the water" (total gibberish), you can't deny the biology. In fact, if you read carefully, they actually acknowledge this by suggesting that if your results aren't great, avoid feeding a red-meat based diet...What I will say in defence of Dog Rocks is that they are probably harmless. Some other products, whose manufacturers have even less of a grasp of biology, try to manipulate the pH of the dog's urine (in the mistaken belief that "acid" causes the brown patches), which may have harmful effects such as causing the development of kidney stones. Avoid these treatments at all costs, seriously. I don't think Dog Rocks will do this, because I don't think Dog Rocks will do anything at all.Where these things SEEM to have worked for people, it is either because they have wet lawns where the nitrogenous urine gets diluted quickly, or they have extremely well rooted grass that can cope with the excess nitrogen, or their dogs are on a low-protein diet / drinking a lot of water / or for other reasons not producing nitrogen-rich urine. It is nothing to do with these INERT rocks that do NOTHING.The ONLY truly effective solution to brown patches on your lawn is to pour a bucket of water on the exact spot that your dog has just had a wee, as soon as they have done it. If that's not practical, then your next best solution is to save the money you would be spending on Dog Rocks every two months, and buy 2 rolls of turf. Cut out the dead patches on your lawn, and replace them with new turf. Repeat every two months. Job done.

Seems to work well.
These seem to work well. I have used them previously and they do last a good length of time. I just brush them when I change my dog's water.

My female dog would burn the grass pretty bad, numerous products including biscuits
I know what you are thinking, some rocks in a bag, why would these help me get rid of the burn spots my dogs leave behind? Well, I cannot tell you how these work but I can tell you that these DO work. My female dog would burn the grass pretty bad, numerous products including biscuits, chews, tabs, etc etc did not seem to stop or help the situation at all. Bought these, my husband look at me like I was insane, he said 'honey you just paid almost $20 for a bag with three rocks in it........" while looking at me like I have lost my ever loving mind. Well needless to say he is now a believer and no longer questions my rock purchases ;-)While these are not 100% for us, my dogs do not solely eat dry food and I cannot keep them from filling up on sprinkler water while outdoors, it has drastically reduced the burn marks on the lawn from the dog urine, I would say by 90%.Also should note that these will not work overnight!!!!!!!!!!!!! To get a true sense of if they are working you need about 6 weeks or so to see the difference. That is generally the time requirement for all products related to reducing urine burn, nothing is instantSide note: I do not put these in my dogs bowls, they HATE them in there. They will stare at the bowl and bark at it until I remove them. I keep them in a pitcher filled with water and refill their bowls as necessary
