Stylish, funky, colourful, smart and bright!
So, after a couple of years of thinking about it, I finally took the plunge with the Philips Hue system last week. Initially just an Iris, and a 2 x White lamp and Hub starter kit......And I am so glad that I did!Setting up the hub really was a doddle. Ok, so I'm an IT guy but I don't see how it could be any easier. For those that resent the need for a hub to control these lights, your home wifi would soon clog up with connected devices (with some home wifi routers having quite a low limit for devices) if it didn't have its own little wifi network.Installing the Hue app on a smartphone was also as straight forward as you'd expect and pairing it to the hub was just a click of a button. Lamps were discovered quickly and everything up and running in minutes! So now, these Hue Iris lamps. Some reviews have commented on their brightness. Let me just say, these are actually very bright. Sure, they are not reading lamps but they are powerful to provide ambient lighting in your average size living room. A pair of these, with one in opposite corners, will easily provide enough light for an evening in front of the tv.I now have 3 Iris' and a couple of the White/Colour candle bulbs in my ceiling light and my lounge has never been brighter! The Iris' have replaced 2 B&Q 'Glam' mood lamps which were rated at 3.4W. The 2 Glam's were more than sufficient to light my room in the evenings, so with the Iris' rated at 10W the difference is very noticeable. Btw, the Iris has a luminous flux rating of 210 lumens which is about 25W of incandescent lighting. If your expectations are reasonable and you understand that these are for ambient lighting, and you do need to have the Philips Hue Hub to make these work then you will be happy. If you expect these to light your room up like a white 100W bulb, then you miss the point of the product.

Quick and simple to add in to an existing system
Excellent addition to an automated home. Makes for fantastic mood lighting, and is quite discreetly styled. Seems to be made of hard abs plastic which apparently is a welcome alternative to the ceramic of the bloom unit. Good, long cable from the plug to the unit. Can't be changed though, or extended, so the use of a 3 pin extension would be required. Very easy to link to the hue bridge. Party mode is amusing for 5 minutes but gets boring quickly. Can be linked to a switch, or used via the app / widgets on Android. I'm not an iOS user so cannot comment on usability with that operating system. Happy with the product and ease of use, definitely recommend.

Big, bold and colourful
A bit larger than I'd expected, I was quite surprised when the 2 Iris lights I ordered arrived. My intention had been to use them in the bedroom as bedside lamps, but they are far too big for that. I've since ordered smaller lamps for that. I am, however, delighted with the Iris lights as they work really well, and add beautiful colour to a room. A great addition to anyone who wishes to expand on a Hue lighting system for their home. Definitely recommended.

A fantastic addition to my hue setup
A fantastic addition to my hue setup. I have two of these now, one either side of the living room with a Hue Being ceiling lamp. The two Iris uplights add a great dimension to the lighting in the room and can quickly alter the whole feel with the touch of a button, or a tap of a screen.Best of all my 8 year old daughter loves the fact they can be used as disco lights that change in time to the music. I was told I have to give them 5* on that basis alone (they were getting that regardless).

Another great hue product...but the hue go v2 is better!
Got these on Black Friday at a very reduced price, using them as bedside lights for teenagers. They love them, complements our other hue products, they do have quite a big foot print though, so if you have limited space and want a hue product consider the hue ‘go’ or a lamp and hue bulb combination. They are beautifully designed and look good both lit or turned off. People complain about the pricing, but we haven’t found a smart lighting product as capable as hue - sale prices were a bonus, the iOS app provides so much more capabilities too.One thing that did impress me was the kids managed to pair this with an additional hue light switch without a hue hub, so it could work standalone. However we added it to our existing hub to be able to select colour profiles and change default out of box configuration.Update: over time living with both the hue go and hue iris I have to say the iris doesn’t seem to dim as low or go as bright as the hue go.With the addition of hue go v2 to the range, which is the same fantastic hue go, but now with Bluetooth support - I think this is a much better option, especially for kids rooms as they can control the light via separate Bluetooth app, while we still use the hue bridge & hue app.The hue go also has a internal battery, great if you lose power, or want some mood lighting in the bathroom. The iris still has its place - up lights - generally now in living spaces.

Great set up for a room and such good control
Added this iris to go with my season 1 light strips. This light is brilliant. Works with tommy strips as well through my bridge. Use the app on my phone and the colour variety is amazing.

Great but Beware of reliability (2 of 4 have failed in a month)
Great product and always wanted one but am now weary of them.We bought 4 of these on prime day. 2 have now failed and since been returned to amazon for replacements. This is a major concern to me as to their build quality and longevity. In a month half of them shouldn’t fail when they’re never touched or moved. They sit behind the settee and are controlled via the app so not touched at all. Crazy!Beware of reliability but the design, performance (when working) and product are all spot on

Great lamp. Mood lighting
Great lamp as always. I’ve got a couple of these and they are easy to set up and to control. Either via the hue app or alexa. You have a whole choice of colour and brightness available. For some reason this one arrived without a UK plug or adapter. But not a huge problem as l had an adapter available.
