Beautiful Quality Brushes - Also great for Oil Painting too!
Great Quality for fine line work, I know they say "watercolour brushes" but I use them for Oils and they are great for the fine detail or line work. I have sizes 000, 00, 0, 1, 2 & 3. and i am very happy with them I use them all for Oil painting and love using them along side my Escoda brushes. Highly recommended the don't shed hair and they hold their shape well even after may uses and washes (Even after Oil and Turpentine is used) and I am sure would be just as lovely for watercolorists too.

Winsor & Newton Series 7 paint brushes
Winsor & Newton Series 7 paint brushes are simply the best brushes you can get. I like using the 00 & 000 size for the art that I do & the cost although expensive is affordable. It is very comforting to know I can buy these brushes online because I like them so much.

These are amazing. Despite going for a larger brush
These are amazing. Despite going for a larger brush, the point is so fine that it can be used for very tight spaces or detail. You'll find yourself using your smaller brushes less. Also the tip has stayed sharp much longer than my Citadel brushes. Cant recommend enough. They are better than the artificer brushes. Size comparison. Size 1 - Citadel Medium Layer / Army Painter Character Brush Size 0 - Small Layer Brush Size 00 - Small Articifer / Army Painter Detail Size 000 - Citadel XS Articifer / Army Painter Insane Detail

Great brand but they know that
This is not my first Series 7, So I kind of knew what to expect. Comes well packaged in its own sleeve as well as having a tip protector. I've knocked off on star for the simple reason that it is very overpriced. Tip appears straight as you would expect. As for longevity, it's far too soon to judge. However, my smaller size series 7s seem to be lasting well.

Perfect for oils in very fine details.
I bought the miniature Series 7 version 000 size and the regular Series 7 in 0 and 2 sizes - the larger sizes are like riggers in comparison. I got the 000 for painting fine details on Italian gessoed poplar panels which are very, very flat. The 000 brush holds just enough paint to do a good job and they all paint lovely thin lines - around 100 to 200 microns wide. I use the Winsor and Newton artist's oils with boiled linseed oil and English distilled turpentine and so far (after six months or so) there has been no loss of hairs from any of the brushes - I'm not making any guarantees for anybody else but they have all been okay so far. As soon as I have finished using a brush I always clean it in turps, put it on a piece of tissue to soak up any superfluous solvent, put the sleeve over the end so that it pushes onto the tapered ferrul and then put the protected brush back in the original plastic tube to store it. I don't trust it to a brush holder/case or anything similar that might bend the hairs. In the two images, you can see the 000 in use and also the packaging it comes in that I also use to store it in.

The best brushes around
I bought this brush for my husband as he paints small warhammer models. He will now not use any other brushes. I have bought him other sizes in the series. He likes the size and material the brush is made of, I believe its sable hair. The quality of the brush is exceptional and as a miniature painter it is important that the brush hairs do not fray or separate and these brushes are amazing. You certainly get a great product and if you do detailed painting these brushes are a must have.

These are the droids you are looking for
I totally get the hype. They are brushes like high end sable brushes used to be (eg Games Workshop) You will love using them, instantly you feel the quality almost like you don’t want to use them! I’m sure, if you care for them properly, perhaps use a pomade every now and again, a sort of hair conditioner for brushes, they last ages. I love them. Believe the hype.

When I got back into painting miniatures several months ago, I did my best to make the financial leap with as much wisdom as possible. I am a master painter of 28mm historical minis. I did a not-so-wise thing by going to local craft hobby stores and purchasing synthetic brushes. Cheap, fast and good in the beginning, I found myself just waiting for these brushes to give out. I even washed them with a popular cleaner. Didn't make a difference. Around 5 or 6 uses, separation and curling inevitably occurred. While not useless, they were not enjoyable to use after a very short time. Despite spending $4 for a brush, I took a step up and invested in a well-known set of Kolinsky sables for around $22 ($3/brush). Much better but I noticed a paucity of actual hairs to their brushes and so, I found myself loading paint in the brush constantly. They did hold up well but, the paint did not go on smoothly. I finally stepped onto the luxury car lot of brushes and invested $12 in a Windsor Newton. There's no going back. They are perfectly shaped and thick. They seem to be impervious to loosing their original quality, especially since I take good care of them. A loaded brush holds so much paint, I find myself making smooth strokes with exceptional results, and reloading about 1/4th the time. I am slowly replacing my brushes with all Windsor Newtons. You will need less brushes overall since a #3 is more than sufficient to paint large areas AND all but the finest of details. An initial investment in 3 or 4 brushes is more than enough. By all means keep your old brushes for priming, washing, dry brushing, etc; but the real painting will be covered by your 3 Windsors. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to under estimate the size of the brushes you'll need. Explanation...while I used to be a big proponent of buying 5/0, 10/0 and even 20/0, all that is out-the-window now. You'll feel silly that you ever did that as a #2 (not 2/0) Windsor is a good place to start. This might seem large compared to what you're used to but, try it first and you'll see. I easily paint pupils with a #2. I purchased a 000 and found it to be minimally useful because the #1, 2 and 3's form a perfect point. This will SAVE you $$$. If you paint 10-15 hrs a week like many of us, you won't be looking for a new brush for at least a year, compared to buying new synthetics every month. Most importantly, painting will become more of a pleasure and your minis will look better. You'll paint faster and you'll dare to become better and try more feats of detail. So take a "$12 chance" on one brush. Start with a #2. You'll be able to do 98% of your painting with it. Then a 0, 1, and 3. I promise you'll wish you made the switch long ago.

Winsor & Newton always make the best brushes. They flow/glide well, are a pleasure to hold & can hold a nice amount of paint at the tip (please water down your acrylic paints) The size 1 brush is perfect for fine, detailed work on miniatures like the ones from Warhammer... 40k.
