The Who: Concert Memories from the Classic Years, 1964 to 1976

A must for WHO fans worldwide!!!

At first I thought this book to be a little too expensive but, in reviewing my previous Who history book purchases, I realized I paid $40.00 for the Andy Neill/Matt Kent book in 2002, and this book has just as much value as that one. Genzolini focuses on the years 1966 through 1973, which, to me, encompass the most interesting and productive period of Who history. Ironically (because Genzolini is European), these are also the most USA-centric years in Who history. The book has great pictures and great stories from Who fans lucky enough to have interacted with the band members and attended some of their greatest concerts. I also enjoyed most of the editorial content. This book is a must for any longtime Who fan.

Still reading and looking at the photos. Pure nostalgia for me, but there are lots of wonderful unpublished photos, although a bit of photoshopping wouldn't have gone amiss on some of them.

Great book for Who fans!

Even for those who consider themselves well-versed in The Who arcana and history, these reminiscences – some quite brief, some more lengthy – are sure to add to their appreciation of the group, their music and their place in history. For readers whose tastes run decidedly away from “oral history” type books, fear not: there’s a linearity about these written memories. And Genzolini writes rather extensively in his book, too: each chapter begins with a scene-setting essay/overview by the author, who knows well how to drop in a quote to help hammer home his point. Essential.

i just got this treasure yesterday!!! i have been waiting 2 years for this book & it is finally here, the photos are kind of amature and mind blowing!!!! lots of great intimate backstage photos of the who on early us tours in 1967 &68 as well as interviews and comments from the fans/people who took these actual photos as far back as almost 60 years ago..... lots of great stories to read from these people ( i have not read them all yet but the few i read where fantastic) some of these photos where taken and the stories you will read are from when the who would actually meet with fans at there hotels ,backstage etc etc & sign autographs, take photos etc etc when they first hit us shores in 1967, there are also great uk photos from as far back as 1964 with the same or similar stories.. you hear from the usuals who where there from the beggining like jack irish etc etc.... THIS BOOK IS PUT TOGETHER ( in a way) from old die hard fans for all fans today!!!!! one special photo i see is of a woman in 2019 giving pete a jacket he must have gave her in april 1968 at the fillmore east show wich was my favorite who boot for like 42 years now.... also there is even a fan photo of the who from 1967 at the village theatre wich was the same venue as the fillmore east the year before the fillmore east 68 shows!!!! certainly photos here i never saw before with great stories to go with them!!!!!!!!!! anyway this book was WORTH THE 2/3 YEAR WAIT for me now i see!!!! very high quality hardcover book with high end paper pages with glossy photos and the best was done to restore some of the old beaten up fan photos from way back then!!!!! great photos & story book from the best who years ever up to oakland 1976!!!!!!

以前出たキース・ムーンの本同様、ファン等の当時の証言を集めた物ですが、画像もプロカメラマン撮影の写真ではなく素人が撮影したものも収められています。よって画質が悪い物もありますがその時代の空気感が感じられて面白い読み物となっています。画像はカラー、白黒各200枚ほどで白黒の方が若干多めの構成です。
