Very good, but a few improvements needed
I bought this game in summer 2012 and was very impressed when it arrived. The delivery took just 3 days. the first day i played the game 4 about 9 hours! There is a useful tutorial that really helps you to understand how the game works. You hold A for a defensive shot, just swing for an ordinary shot, and hold B for a big lofted shot. The bowling is pretty simillar, with A for a slow ball, B for a fast ball and nothing for an ordinary ball. When batting you have a choice of placing the shot yourself or letting the computer do it for you. To place the ball when bowling all you have to do is point the wiimote at the screen and press A. After the tutorials there are two main modes. Ashes, where you play the 2009 test matces against the Aussies, and exhibition matches, where you can play games that range from 6 overs to tests as any of the 8 teams. the teams are Australia, England, India, New zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the windies.A few down sides are that, because the game was brought out in 2009, over half the players on the game (eg. Michael Vaughan, Steve harmisson & Freddie Flintoff)have retired. And the game won't let you change these out-of-date names for current players, which is annoying. Also the ratings for some of the players are totally wrong. Like Greame Swann, for example, is a much better bowler than the game leads you to believe. As wll as this the game is quite easy, evan on international level. The computer is absolutely useless (i've played it about 100 times and lost once) and the fielding is absolutely awfuf. But in some ways this is good because it makes you feel good as you keep winning. More good features is it is absolutely addictive, and you can have pride when you hit huge sixes off of the worlds best bowlers. Overall credit to codemasters for bringing out this game. it is a great game but a new version would be brilliant. This reveiw was written by a 12 yr old

Ashes Cricket 09 Wii
My son loves this game and plays on it all the time! It took a little while initially for him to get used to the batting/bowling technique but once he did he was away. There are three skill levels - Village is quickly mastered, but County and Test are much more challenging, as are the scenarios. Recommended.

Big disapointment
Having been playing various versions of cricket games on both PC and PS2 for several years, I was really excited for a Wii version as it would offer a far more interactive and realistic cricketing experience. What a disapointment!I guess I kind of expected to be looking down the pitch through a cricket helmet grill, as Brett Lee steamed in, my Wii controller in hand masterfully hooking, pulling, driving or ducking. Or running in ball (Wii controller) in hand, hitting the bowling crease just right, delivering line and length with maybe a hint of reverse swing. So much potential for this to have been the best Wii game ever, but sadly no.There is minimal control in both batting and bowling. The action is just too far away, there are no fielding controls, i.e. catching, throwing etc (there are minimal preset field placing options). Commentary is boring and repetitive. Not much thought has been put into graphic sequencing, i.e. fast seam bowlers warming up as if they were spinners. Seriously, I have a PS2 cricket game from 2003 that is better.I guess we will continue to wait for the Wii cricket game so many of us long for.

Atleast there's cricket on Wii now
Ok so here goes a first hand owner review of the Wii Ashes Cricket 2009.As usual, Amazon are superb in delivering on their promise. Arrived just an hour back and we set out to explore cricket on the Wii after 2 long years.Pros1. Again, finally we have cricket on Wii2. Simple to play. One can master the skills in the Easy mode and progress to the more advanced options. Nothing like the Fifa, Golf or Table Tennis learning curves.3. Choices of 20 overs, 6 overs and test matches. Yet to explore all options completely though the cover states full Ashes version is available.4. Good value for enjoyment for single or 2 playersCons1. Graphics are way below par. I am not comparing it to games on PS2 or XBox but to other Wii Sports games like Fifa, Golf, Table Tennis etc. I am a sports lover but this really doesnt live up to mark2. Commentary is also not upto the mark I am afraid.3. Batting options are not extensive. I do feel you get the thrill of actually batting and control your batsmen to a good extent.4. Bowling doesnt live upto the mark. There is a bowling action but I am not too keen on it.5. Team composition is sad not to mention the wierd names they have given to the players. You can edit your players and chose the batting and bowling order thoughI havent had much time to go through anything else in detail but satisfied so far.Overall Rating - For enjoyment 4 stars as cricket is finally here though it could have been better. The Wii feel factor is there and is definitely comparable to most other Wii games. It's more real than playing footie on the Wii, that's a given - you atleast do some real cricketing action here :-)Overall I give it a 3 as it is decent enough for a start. I am basing it on my previous experience with sports games on the Wii. It will definitely improve going ahead but for I am happy this game is finally out so we can have a crack at it.Have fun you all!
