Q: how noisy is this drier?

It is the same as those used in public washrooms, but it can all depend on what size room it is situtated. Mine is in a small bathroom and I find it acceptable as it only needs to be used for about 15 seconds to get my hands dry. Hope this helps

yes it can be re-directed but ingress of water down the upturned vent would be a concern.

Q: Can be incorporated into the socket?

Not sure about the meaning of this question. I am not a qualified electrician so you would need to check this following opinion; it can be plugged into a 13amp three pinned socket, which if located in a bathroom etc. would be illegal. It can be wired straight out of the unit casing into a 13amp fused outlet with an isolation switch outside the room or from behind the unit and through a wall into a fused outlet. The unit is high wattage but only used for short blasts. The automatic on/off switch is excellent and very sensitive. I have used the unit for several months now and am very pleased with it.
