Despite the strong chemical odour HG Mould Spray still receives 5 stars. It's advisable (in fact, essential) to use this in a well ventilated situation. Then you can watch the mould disappear right in front of your eyes. Sometimes a second application is needed in cases of thick black mould. But two applications is all you will ever need and in 90% of cases one is sufficient. This product has solved all my mould problems. Only in one area has there been a little re-growth. Highly recommended.

I’m genuinely impressed with the HG Mould Spray. It does exactly what it promises and works incredibly fast. I used it on stubborn black mould and mildew in my bathroom (around the shower seals and tiles), and the results were visible within minutes. The stains lifted without any heavy scrubbing, leaving the surfaces looking clean and fresh again. The spray is easy to apply, clings well to vertical surfaces, and covers a good area. A little goes a long way, so the 500ml bottle feels great value for money. While the smell is strong (as expected for a powerful mould cleaner), it clears quickly with ventilation and is absolutely worth it for how effective the product is. What I really like is that it doesn’t just mask the problem — it actually removes deep-set mould stains and restores surfaces to their original appearance. Perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, and any damp areas. Highly recommended if you’re dealing with mould or mildew and want a reliable, professional-level cleaner that actually works. I will definitely be buying this again.

I’m impressed with the build quality of the spray nozzle; it gives a good, even mist that doesn't drip too much. It cleared the mildew in our conservatory and garden shed with ease. It’s an incredibly easy 'self-acting' cleaner, but I’m giving it 4 stars because the fumes are very strong—you definitely need gloves and an open window. It’s a relatively cheap way to handle a big job without professional help. Very hard-wearing results.

Excellent product, does what it says ! Smell a bit strong so keep Room ventilated.

We don’t have a window in our bathroom and the extractor fan isn’t great, so we get quite a bit of moisture build up and therefore a recurring mould issue. We had mould all the way round the bath sealant, on the tiles next to the shower and on the ceiling above the shower to the point where I thought we were going to have to replace the sealant and repaint the ceiling. I applied the mould spray all over the affected areas and I could see it starting to work after only a few minutes. After 30 minutes all the mould had completely gone with no need to wipe, I just used the shower head to give some of the areas a rinse down and that was it. It’s very impressive stuff to a dullster like me. It hadn’t just masked over the mould, it had actually eaten away at it. It will be interesting to see how quickly the mould returns if at all. One thing I will say though is that it absolutely stinks of chlorine and I’m glad I chose to use it on a day that my daughter was at nursery. The smell is horrible and can be quite overwhelming. I was wearing a pair of gloves as instructed and a full face mask (the kind you would wear if you were spray painting a car) and I could still smell it. Even with all the upstairs windows and doors wide open you could still smell it for hours after and it even lingered into the next day. It actually left me feeling quite short of breath at points and I had to leave the house, so if you have a breathing condition or are quite sensitive to smells then I do not recommend this stuff to you. If you have a baby or young children I would make sure that they are out of the house while you use this or at the very least a different floor to the one you’re using it.

Impressive stuff. I needed to get some black mould spots off a white bathroom ceiling. I sprayed a little of this into a bowl and used a clear paintbrush (don't use a dark one cos it will be bleached and leave brown smears behind - always test first!) to 'paint' over the mould on the ceiling. A quick wipe down with some kitchen towel a few moments later and the mould is gone. Excellent.

Title: Less Effective Than the Reputation Suggests Review: HG has a strong reputation in cleaning products and this mould spray gets recommended frequently enough that expectations going in were reasonably high. Picked it up to deal with black mould on bathroom silicone and grout, the same kind of job where the Cillit Bang version had performed well previously, partly out of curiosity about whether the premium reputation translated into meaningfully better results. It didn't, at least not in this case. On light surface mould and fresh growth it performs adequately, spray and wipe and the surface comes up clean enough. But on anything more established, mould that had worked into the silicone or deeper into grout lines, the results were underwhelming for a product at this price point and with this level of brand confidence behind it. Left it for the recommended dwell time and then extended well beyond that on stubborn patches. Improvement was partial at best. The Cillit Bang version shifted more in a single application on comparable areas, which given the price difference makes it difficult to justify coming back to this one. The spray mechanism is well made and disperses evenly without excessive dripping, so the practical application side is fine. The formula just doesn't back up the brand's broader reputation in this particular product. There's also a strong chlorine smell as expected with any bleach based mould remover, ventilation is essential and the fumes linger longer than some alternatives. HG makes genuinely excellent products across other categories so this feels like an outlier rather than a reflection of the brand overall. For black mould removal specifically though there are cheaper options that outperform it. Wouldn't repurchase this one.
