Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Blanket, Double Bed, 135x120cm

I’m so pleased with this Silentnight Comfort Control electric blanket. It’s made a noticeable difference during colder evenings and has quickly become part of my bedtime routine. Writing this review with it on right now. Warm, Comfortable and Easy to Use. I’ve had this electric blanket for about 3–4 months and I’m very satisfied. I even took it to Kenya while travelling and it worked perfectly for slightly chilly nights. Now in my first UK winter, it’s been amazing. It warms up fairly quickly around seven minutes for full temp and the highest setting is more than enough for me, as a person that is always cold. It’s on the smaller side as it doesn’t cover the whole bed, but it covers where you sleep so that’s fine. The only minor issue is the plug area, which can be a little uncomfortable if you sit on it, but it’s usually at the edge of the bed so it’s not a problem. The settings are easy to use, it feels safe, and it seems well-made. I haven’t washed it yet and probably won’t, but I don’t expect any issues otherwise. Overall it’s a great value for money and very reliable.

Selected this underblanket because the mechanical switch on my existing one was making poor contact and getting hot, this one has an electronic controller and seems to work well. Time will tell. The heat levels are good: I use position 4 for half an hour ahead of getting into bed then select level 1 (or 2 if it’s a very cold night). It has a built-in timer and switches off after four hours which I find very useful as I used to wake up in the early hours because I’d get too warm. The only niggle I have with the blanket is the method of securing its position on the bed, just elasticated straps round the width of the mattress. I have my bed at a slight slope with the foot of the bed a few inches lower than the head (helps with reflux), but with nothing to secure the blanket in that direction it works its way down the bed by a few inches per night. Why Silentnight didn’t use the usual method ( loops for string at top and bottom as well as two at each side) for this blanket was not used baffles me, it’d have been cheaper as well as more effective. So it loses a star because of this.

Very happy with electric blanket. Heats up pretty quickly about 10mins on high setting. I chose this because of the single control unit and rating, as I sleep by myself and didn't want two set of control units and wasnt sure if I chose a dual one if I had to turn both on for both sides to heat up and also didn't want the connection end in two places near the pillow area. I also set the blanket up upside down, so the control unit and connection point is on the right side of the bed which I generally do not use, I mainly sleep on the left and middle of the bed. The blanket heats up on both sides (underneath and top) so makes no difference as the heating element is in the middle of the fabric. The blanket is large enough for a double bed and covers the main area. I nearly chose the queen size, but I wasn't fussed about heating the very edges of the bed, if you are over 6ft tall then going extra size will be worthwhile. Now I'm nice and cosy, with levels 3 & 4 hot enough. It has a 4 hour auto shut off. Purchase this last week for £36 and seen due to cold snap price has gone up to £40. I looked at other more expensive blankets £66 area but they all have similar negative points, so went cheap and cheerful. Happy with purchase. Just wished my throw blanket got as hot, but none of them do!

I bought this in late 2020, so it’s now heading into its 6th winter. I chose it based on the well-known brand name, good reviews, and reasonable price. First impressions were that it’s well made with an overall cotton type feeling of reasonable quality, in a simple, neutral colour. I did notice that it doesn’t fully cover the size of the single mattress. I measured it at about 135 cm/4’5” in length, and about 72 cm/2’4” wide. The heating element wires stop about 5 inches from the edge of the material each side, so it effectively has an unheated border. To be fair, the specifications do mention that the blanket isn’t meant to reach the edges to enable it to lie flat, so I’ll accept it’s intended to be this way. The power cable has an overall length of about 8 feet with the controller nearer to the edge of the blanket. It doesn’t have a timer or any bells and whistles, just nice and simple heat options: 0 = Off 1 = Warm - 12 W 2 = Warmer - 23 W 3 = Warmest - 40 W Note: These wattage figures are for the single size blanket. An orange light on the controller glows very softly when switched on. It’s quite slow to fully warm up; I always switch it on at least half an hour before bedtime, on No.3 heat, which is warm enough for a cosy bed. The heating wires do protrude somewhat through the fabric, so some people may find that uncomfortable. This could also be the case across other brands as well, and I personally found I got used to it pretty quickly, without affecting my sleep quality. The elastic straps are helpful, keeping it in place quite securely under the mattress. -Pros: • Well known, trusted brand • Reasonable price • User-friendly controls • Well made, good quality, light weight • No unpleasant smell • Reliability: Still working fine after five years • Low running cost -Cons: • Heating wires can be felt while lying on it • Does not entirely cover the mattress • Slow to heat up • Limited maximum heat level Overall, this is a good, reliable product, and I have not had any problems with it over the past five years of use. Don’t normally make reviews but I occasionally do when I value a product: I feel like a rotisserie chicken put into a delightfully warm oven and it makes me very happy I would definitely recommend and here’s an honest review with some things to consider Advantages: - has 3 different heat adjustments - the highest setting defo keeps you warm - fairly easy to put on the bed - takes a short amount of time to heat up (usually I can brush my teeth wash my face and it’s a good enough temperature, takes somewhere around 15-25mins I would say to sufficiently heat up the bed) -nothing’s complicated about it -has a remote to keep close to turn it off -when turned off heat maintains itself for minimum 30mins more than enough time to go to sleep -had it for over 3 months there’s been no problems used it almost every single day since then too. -can keep it on all night -cheap to use -the side of the douvet in contact with the electric blanket also get warm so you can be sandwiched with warmth -definitely slightly improved my sleep and happiness Disadvantage: - the 1st heat level does basically nothing (but it a suitable level to maintain the warmth already there if you want to keep it on all night) -there is this little plastic thing only on one corner of the blanket where the remote wire links to as long as you sleep on the other side it’s no problem -width ways is perfect but length is a little short about 10inches short to cover the entire length of a double sized bed (although I think this is the pillow space encountered for) This is a winter game changer 8.75/10

Ordered this product last year around 2024 and it's still going as it should. Warms our bed up very nicely. It has 3 different heating levels, 1,2,3. 3 being the hottest. Doesn't take long at all to warm your bed up. Pros : straps onto your bed easily, easy to use just plug it in. Keeps your bed nice one warm. Conc : after a while the blanket starts to fold up in the corners. Depending on how tall you are, you can feel the control unit that plug into the blanket with your foot. The double doesn't cover the whole of your double bed, so keep that in mind.

Good quality product, Just place it under the sheet turn it on for half hour before you go to bed and you’ll have a warm bed for all night.

I bought this as a gift for a friend, and unfortunately, it does not seem to provide much warmth. I was very disapoinyed when she told me that now after three days is still not working.While a slight warming sensation can be felt after an hour, it is not long-lasting, and it takes a full hour for it to begin working.
