The Puffin Book of Stories for Six-year-olds

I brought this for my son’s birthday, he was very pleased. Lovely little story for someone who’s learning to read!

Thisis the second book I have bought for my niece, she loves them.

I ordered this for my 6.5 year old son (and then consequently as presents for his classmates) and we are really enjoying the stories. We usually snuggle up and I read these stories to him (they're an ideal length), although he has attempted a few stories on his own and done quite well! They're aren't many illustrations so I think that's what makes it a bit hard going when he reads alone. His reading ability is accelerating at such a speed it certainly won't be long before he really enjoys reading this book alone. I wanted to encourage the next 'level' of reading which is books without pictures and I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of complaints on his part! I would definitely recommend this book for the in-between stage when they are just starting to read alone. Great value for money too!

My grandson is already a fluent reader, and has been enjoying the stories.

Bought this as we enjoyed the books for 5 years old. This wasn't as goos, stories were very strange or so my daughter thought lol Anyway some were ok i thought.

I needed more bedtime stories for our boy and used these when he was five. He enjoyed them. Job done.

Bought as a present for a grandchild. Received with thanks.

These stories are for British English speakers; they are creative, but I think better fit for an 8 year old than a six year old. It's good to teach her new vocabulary.

The book for 5 year olds was good and hence I bought this one. But absolute waste. Stories are grossly inappropriate for the age group as well as scary. do not recommend!!

Some of the stories, themes and concepts here are really not for 6 year Olds. A wolf trapped by a mob and they discuss many ways to kill it? Come on now.
