Pioneer DEH-X8700DAB Car Stereo with DAB+ Tuner

I replaced the factory Infinity head unit in my Crossfire with this - I wanted a head unit with hands-free phone capability, Bluetooth audio, DAB radio and external USB and 3.5mm Aux interfaces. This unit does all that and more and includes useful things like a separate remote microphone for the phone function. A single telephone button on the front (a great design feature and very handy) takes care of call pickup, call rejection, recent calls, etc. A push-and-hold of the main knob invokes Apple's Siri, where you can do everything you'd expect like ask it to call people, read text messages to you, etc. Clarity of voice from the stereo and voice quality at the other end are excellent. I wired mine to make use of the separate factory-fitted 4-channel amplifier, via the phono pre-out's on the back (it has outputs for front, rear and sub) and the playback difference between this and the old head unit is night and day. Huge improvements in definition, clarity and a very tight bass response too. The head unit also has features such as an adjustable low-pass filter to tailor how much bass the main speakers handle, plus pre-set and custom EQ, etc. The colours can also be changed to pretty much anything you like, or any of the pre-set colour options. Overall, it's a high quality unit at a good price with a stack of features.

Pioneer's latest DAB offering is a huge step-up from the over complicated and brash DEH-X8500DAB. It looks smooth and sophisticated, and operates that way too, sounding fantastic. It gives you flawless performance from all sources, and is so easy to use. There's no DAB antenna included in the package, but I already have a magnetic roof mount type, I would avoid the stick on windscreen type, if you want a great signal. I simply can't fault this unit, it plays everything and streams music/makes handsfree calls with it's excellent Bluetooth built in. If you want to listen to just about anything whilst driving, then this is the best option for you, I can't stress how good it sounds...

I purchased this stereo in July 2015 and paid an extra £150 to have it fitted along with a DAB aerial to my Ford Focus (2008 reg). Ever since the alarm and the indicator lights have been going off on their own accord when the car is locked and turned off. This has resulted in me having 2 x new car batteries at £60 a time and 2 x breakdown call outs. I took it in to a local garage and paid £60 for them to run their diagnostic checks but they could not find anything. I then took it to a local Ford dealership who ran their diagnostics checks and they advised that the only thing that I can do to resolve the problem is have the old CD player put back in and have the Pioneer stereo removed. I have had this done and this has cost me an additional £72. I am somewhat confused as I am not a car expert but do not understand how I could have bought something that has caused so many problems for what is one of the most popular and standard cars in the UK. There is nothing I can find that says it isn't compatible. In total I have spent nearly £400 since purchasing the stereo and I have had nothing but problems. I would not recommend this product, or the sellers.

Impressive sound, has transformed the sound in my Defender, almost like I'd added a amp and speakers too. Bluetooth connection is good to my iphone. Phone Microphone works really well, although I was surprised that it wasn't built in and the microphone was on a wire to position - still it works well. Controls are a bit of a dissapontment - they work fine, it's just that they are not very simple / logical to follow. For example there is no on/off button - you press the top left of the panel where it says SRC (source?) - once you get this embedded in your brain then it's a clean looking unit, with about a dozen light Colour options. The clean look was my main reason for buying it - I hate all the current Highly detailed / old "transformer" styled models. So, good sound and radio signal, good phone and Bluetooth connection, clean looking, controls could be better.

I tried a Pure DAB radio but you need to press three buttons as well as pressing and turning a knob just to make a phone call, even then it won't store your numbers - no thanks! Then I looked at the Pioneer 8500 but could not commit to something designed to appeal to people who drive whilst wearing baseball caps back to front, its so garish and bright its a distraction to aircraft. Enter the 8700 with its classy, stylish look and intuitive icon driven system. Okay, some of the set up procedures are a bit baffling for my late middle aged brain but it connected to my Iphone with ease and the Siri function means voice dialling. The sound is great, the connectivity is very impressive and all in all its a great radio and highly recommended.

Weeks of pondering and research, uncertainty, nerves you name it but couldn't be happier. This unit is nice and heavy in that you can tell its quality by its quality feel, carefully installed it immediately performed and amazed me, so many options to adjust sound, three alone for bass and loudness, none of which sound muddy. After turning everything up like you do I ended up with most settings at near standard the sound quality is that good. My previous Pioneer head unit was cheaper and I always found it fiddly, you would think this would be worse with so few buttons but this is a very cleverly thought out unit with very easy operation. After installing new Kenwood speakers and the amazing PioneerTS-WX120A Powered Subwoofer I feel I have transformed my modest Mondeo with this 'Heart of the system' Head Unit, well done Pioneer you've got a very happy customer

Ich kann dieses Radio nur empfehlen. Sehr guter Klang, einen wirklich gutem Empfang, völlig problemlose Kopplung aller Geräte, ob MP3 Player, Telefon, Tablet, zweites Telefon, alles klapp sofort und mühelos. Toll ist die Farbgestaltungsmöglichkeit des Displays. Darüber hinaus läßt sich auch noch der Umfang und die Art der Anzeige einstellen. Bei eingehenden Telefonanrufen springt das ausgeschaltete Radio automatisch an, sodass man sofort über eine wirklich gute Freisprecheinrichtung verfügt. Ich bin rundum zufrieden und würde es wieder kaufen. Es funktionier mindest so gut wie die mehr als 4 mal so teuren Geräte von Becker in meinen anderen Fahrzeugen.

Sono veramente soddisfatto dell'acquisto. Cercavo una radio con ingresso USB (posteriore) e vivavoce per le chiamate da cellulare attraverso bluetooth, ma soprattutto cercavo qualcosa che nativamente non si interfacciasse solo con iPOD, iPHONE (vedi Clarion, Alpine,etc.) dato che sono un fan ANDROID. La radio DAB era per me un optional ma ho deciso di fare il passo dato che cambio autoradio una volta ogni 15-20 anni. Ho montato tutto in una mattinata: il microfono BT (fornito) vicino allo specchietto retrovisore, la prolunga USB/AUX (non fornita) vicino all'accendisigari, l'antenna DAB (optional Pioneer) e l'autoradio. Funziona tutto perfettamente. La qualità delle telefonate in vivavoce è ottima sia per chi chiama che per chi riceve. La qualità scende un pò in autostrada a causa della rumorosità del mio abitacolo, per cui bisogna alzare un pò la voce. E' possibile collegare 2 smartphone in contemporanea e gestire le chiamate fatte, perse e ricevute, nonchè la rubrica direttamente dall'autoradio. Il solo piccolo difetto è che ci vuole un pò di tempo prima di poter accedere a questa funzionalità a causa dei tempi di trasferimento dati via BT. Quindi se si sale in macchina e si vuole fare una chiamata veloce bisogna passare attraverso lo smartphone ma poi la chiamata passa direttamente in vivavoce. Tra le sorgenti che ho provato: CD audio e MP3 perfetto, USB con MP3 perfetto, audio via BT (riproduzione di file audio residenti su smartphone) perfetto ma con una leggera perdita di volume audio forse perfezionabile con le impostazioni, radio DAB notevole. Peccato che l'offerta di radio digitali sia limitata ai canali RAI (tutti), in effetti nella mia zona (Bologna) speravo ci fosse la piattaforma che fornisce alcune delle maggiori radio private, es. RadioDeeJay, ma purtroppo non è così o perlomeno non l'ha trovata durante l'iniziale scansione automatica. Indagherò. Molto carina anche l'offerta di colori dell'illuminazione con display e autoradio a settaggi separati e gli effetti di transizione. Queste sono le prime impressioni, dal momento che non ho ancora avuto il tempo di leggere tutto il manuale. C'è anche un app per smartphone di Pioneer ma non ho ancora testato. Non posso far altro che consigliare questo articolo.

El envío no se cumplió tal como era prometido. Lo engarce a esta compania y pagando más porque prometía un envío más rápido que otros. Fue enviado por logística de correos España y no funcionó como decía. Además es seguimiento y procedimiento del sistema correos (robot de teléfono) por telefono no es acceptable porque encima que correos no cumple con las fechas encima te hacen pasar por ese sistema que te hace perder mucho tiempo. No es mucho pedir que si se trata de un envío retrasado que correos te ponga un tecla a elijir para esos casos y con una línea directa y una persona al otro lado que te proporcione una asistencia y seguimiento del caso. Y además una disculpa o también indeminiciacuon. Pero nada de nada con ese robot. Muy mal por parte de correos.
