Short review of Tintinalli
I bought this book to supplement my knowledge of emergency medicine. I chose it because it is comprehensive but concise. There are plenty of picutures and tables that summarise and enhance the information in the text. I would recommend this book to those looking for more detail about the wider range of topics than is provided by the Oxford Handbook of Emergnecy Medicine. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I rather find American spellings of medical terms annoying. A poor reason to drop a star I know. And yes, I am aware that this book was written in America for the American market.

Kindle version works, great for FCEM revision
So I have downloaded the kindle version with crossed fingers. It works really well on iPad and fine on Google nexus. There is a contents page which swipes from the left and allows you to jump to any chapter. A more detailed contents page and search make it much easier to navigate than the paper version. It also fits in my handbag, it's 116 Mb.The format looks good and is readable and absorbable on a normal iPad screen. It works reasonably well on the iPhone though it's too small a screen to really work properly. I didn't get the DVD that comes with the paper version but am not fussed. For FCEM revision it is pitched just right covering anatomy physiology and detailed management (drug doses and routes included, as are common pathogens and exam type detail). However if there is a complicated word they will use it and I can get s bit lost in the wordiness. I tend to use an Oxford handbook to get an overview then use this to get the nitty-gritty detail. it is a true EM book and covers wounds and minor trauma that you just can't get elsewhere. I also have the Cameron book which is no where near detailed enough for FCEM.
