works perfectly, great range

Purchased for safety in sea kayaking hobby. Tested this last few days in Wales. Yes it floats. Upside down but it floats. Be careful to not tighten the rubber grommet on the mic input. Floated for a few minutes at a time. Used it attached to myself and got in and out the water throughout the week. Scan mode works well. Battery didn't last the time it stated but hoping it just needs to be conditioned for longer use. Clip and strap attached all good. Easy to use all facilities on device. Hoping the radio lasts a few years. Let's see. Any update I will repost the review. UPDATE: Just under a year with little use and just the test in water the speakers gone. Apparently out of warranty now. Not good value. Buy better.

Although a good product in many respects buyers need to be aware that it does not have Ch. 37 - which, if you go racing, is an essential channel. What a shame as this is otherwise a great product at a bargain price.

A very well made radio,good size battery and charger,good instructions yet to be used out on boat but ticks all the boxes.

New center console boat did not come with a VHF radio. Decided to purchase a handheld. Way better price point and meets my needs for contacting marinas or bridge tenders. Also, nice to have on board for emergencies. Works great. Love that its waterproof and floats. Would buy again.

I did a lot of research on marine radios and based on features and reviews decided on this one. The radio comes with everything you need to get up and running including a good user's manual, a quality charger, belt clip, and lanyard. I mounted the charger in our boat with the supplied screws and the included 12v cord. I used the radio to monitor channel 16 and the weather alert channels for several days out on the lake. I heard some radio chatter and also received a few weather alerts while monitoring channel 16. The weather alert feature is loud and works well. I have had brief conversations with other boaters and have found the range to be acceptable. After four full days of boating on a single charge the battery indicator still read full. It is easy to use and feels like a quality product. Note, though, that this radio does not have the GPS/Bluetooth modules with the DSC/MMSI functionality for broadcasting emergency messages to the USCG. If you boat on large lakes or offshore, the upgrade to Cobra's MR HH600 FLT GPS BT model is worth it. Recommended for leisure boaters on small bodies of water to have in case of emergency.
