Works very well, but….
Works very well if set up correctly. Kelly Galloup has a good video on setting it up. Fishpond, per usual, doesn’t provide any information about the product —including how to set it up correctly— in its packaging or on its website. Also, the hard key ring will not expand enough to use in the hole in the handle of the Fishpond Nomad next. You’ll need to buy a separate cable-type key ring on the handle end and use it instead of the regular ring. The magnet has got to be one of the strongest ones on the market for net holders. I hang it from the drag/hanging loop at the top of my Fishpond Ridgeline vest/pack instead of the net loop. It’s easier to grab the magnet at my neck and connect it than it is to slap all my ver my back trying to find the area of the net loop. I’m not impressed by the coil. It seems like it’ll turn brittle after a season or two, but we’ll seek

Great product for the most part.
Great product. However, rings should be replaced with stronger ones immediately.

Ignore these bad reviews
I was skeptical about the magnets after reading these reviews but bought one anyway. These people are either setting it up wrong (Youtube it, 90% of people are), or allowing magnetic sediment to build up on the magnets reducing their pull. The magnets are PLENTY strong to not have it come out without a hard pull.

Don't Waste Your Money
I'm a fan of fishpond products. I own and enjoy several. But the Confluence Net Release definitely does not deliver on it's advertised promise. It's really a waste of money. It is NOT the solution for on-the-water net storage and retrieval we've all been searching for. And before you ask - yes, it is installed exactly as fishpond directs. Read on...The idea sounds great on paper – a super magnet on the head of the net and one installed on a loop on your vest behind your back will 'find' each other whenever you get them close to each other. It simply doesn't work most of the time. The net hoop magnet, which is installed on a flexible band around the rim of the net, has to be in the perfect position. It almost never is in the right position because it either rotates around the hoop ring, or it gets caught in the net. I've stood in front of a full length mirror in my home multiple times and not been able to make the magnets mate up in 10-12 attempts. (Imagine how frustrating this is on the water!)The device is very well made. But it is a good idea very poorly executed.Save your money and just purchase fishpond's wading/cargo belt that has the built-in net holster. It works.

Cheaply parts
I’m a big fan of Fishpond….so I got this. I am Disappointed. Costs me $30 and these key rings came with are WEAK and CHEPLY MADE! I can’t believe that. I thought Fishpond is a Good company makes great products ‘IN GENERAL’…. Look at these pics… I used only ONCE to connect with landing net. These key rings came out bent and non functional. Looks like it can come out anytime. Just look at the pics. I had to go to ACE HARDWARE STORE to buy these better rings cost me $0.84!Fishpond started being CHEAP? Come on now. All you guys had to do was use descent key rings. Not the best, just descent key rings. If this product came with descent key rings that won’t get too loose after used once, I would and could have give 5 stars because I’m happy about this product. However, you guys used incredibly cheap parts, so I had to go to Ace Hardware Store, so I 1will have to give 2 stars

Garbage
The magnet is incredibly strong to detach the net it actually bent the metal ring, but yet so weak you have to fiddle with it so bad the get it to reattach. For the money they charge for this little thing they should be ashamed.
