Is this product gluten free? Suitable for Coeliacs?

It says not for use in break makers but the recipe i want to make in my bread maker says to use traditional yeast and not fast acting so can I use it?

There are two types of instant dried yeast. This one is for hand bread baking only. There are tins and boxed sachets of yeast in all good supermarkets and you need the one that stipulates it can be used in a bread making machine. The sachets are the best as you keep the other sachets sealed and fresh the tin once its open I believe has a shorter life. I got mine for bread makers in Tesco have also see 2 types in Sainburys.I don't use other supermarkets as they are too few and far between for me so can't comment on them. Hope this all helps.

Is use by date important

If it says 'Use By' then it is important. If it says 'Best Before' then you can just try it. It's unlikely to cause you any harm. If you follow the instructions and it becomes active then it will probably work. This type of yeast needs to be pre activated with warm water before you add it to your flour, unlike 'fast acting' yeast that you mix with the dry ingredients.

Good Buy

First time using Yeast, I am still getting to grips with proofing this. Considering the little amount you use in recipe it balances out the cost. Comes in a secure tin.

Very good product

I was not able to find this in my local shopsincluding Asda and Tesco. However it was available online, but at three times the original price. I am happy that Morrison is selling it on Amazon at a reasonable price. The order arrived in just one day. They have very long expiry dates. Happy with the purchase.

Best bread yeast

By far the best yeast. Been impossible to find lately but luckily I've had enough to keep us going. Hopefully it will be back on sale again soon

Good old fashioned dried yeast

Good old fashioned dried yeast. You can use just what you need by the spoonful rather a sachet. If you use it in place of fast acting yeast you need to reduce the amount of liquid for the recipe by the amount used to activate the yeast. Very economical.

Not what it used to be

Lost the plot with this Allinsons product over the last year. Been using it for years but of late it does not work. I notice retailers seem to have delisted it.
